Pretty epic.

This season has been great.

It’s cool if they can’t do anything else.

Yeah very interesting. What about Looking Glass though. Where is he going to pop up?

It always does with a finale but does there seem too much to tie up in one episode?

Really weak finale. Great season overall still.

Fine ending.

I think they'll have a season 2.

I hope they don't.

The comments by Lindelof leading up to last night were a bit cryptic about continuing on.

I didn’t find it that weak honestly. It was almost anti Lindelof. Very linear and explanatory. Yeah Joe Keene rambled on way too long telling us info we all knew, and it was definitely more on the nose than the rest of the series as a whole, but it kind of had to be. Too much would spoil and leak if not done that way imho. Also trying to wrap up and make it a single season requires some of that. If they do another chapter (I think it will happen eventually maybe nit with Damon) this chapter was closed. Yeah the door is left open for sure but I thought it was a nice tie up for a fun ride that kept me thinking. It was way more redeeming than the finale of True Detective season 1, at least to me. Better than lost. Leftovers was still better than this but this is a different thing.

SeasoN 2 is all lube man.

My two biggest beefs with it

The Veidt part of the show is far and away the weakest part of the show. So opening up a 67 minute finale with 30 minutes of focus on him sucked. I found myself getting impatient with it.

The stuff with Dr Manhattan’s “capture” just felt ridiculous. You can’t describe a guy as literally God but then if we make the metal bars extra thick it’ll hold him captive. It just didn’t correlate with the comics or the tv series description of him, so the whole thing felt incredibly forced and narratively weak.

By really weak finale I’m judging it in relation to the rest of the season, which I thought was excellent. I thought it was easily the worst of the 9 episodes, not a great thing for a finale to be.

Still would easily recommend it to anyone.

With the Veidt thing I think it had to do with his play and how it was supposed to be his narrative telling the whole story. That’s what I heard was the Lindlehof summation from his podcast. I will fault the show that to make sense of it you are best served by listening to the podcast and the Petey files thing. Still to be expected after what happened with Lost. The multimedia thing well became a thing.

I do think they will continue because ratings rose throughout the season I just don’t think Damon will do season 2. I’d give it a shot but don’t have much expectations for it. The show was great for what it was.

I do absolutely agree though worst show of the season, it was clunky and on the nose, I’m not sure it could have been done a whole lot better but you are right the Veidt portions were a drag and didn’t hit throughout the whole series. His story was very much like jazz, not super accessible and only interesting to the few who get it.

I guess the lithium excuse is good enough of a trap for Manhattan as well you need something right? It did feel dumb though. At least they did bother to explain to an extent how and why it would happen. The lady Trieu explanation of why the 7th Calvary had to be involved was too short and clunky. I mean how did those dolts even figure anything out was she feeding them intel too?

The Veidt stuff was okay imo. He went to Europa to be treated as a god and got bored pretty quickly so he started trying to make life interesting. He created the Game Warden to be an adversary for him and to challenge him.

7th Kavalry plot was a silly red herring and Keane got too talky.

Treiu's plan is equally goofy. What was the Millennium Clock for? Was it another red herring?

Manhattan seemed to want to die. Or at least transfer to another body.

The egg plan worked and Angela is the new Doc.

Her kids are gonna be fucked up.

It’s based on a comic book.

Suspension of belief should be expected.

Irrelevant. If you want to tell a good story it still has to make narrative sense, regardless of what universe it takes place in.

so is this worth watching? Let me rephrase that. Is it excellent? I don't have room in my life for shows that aren't.

I didn't care for it. It was very stylized, but the whole story was very meh. The pacing of the whole series was odd too. After all that, what was the point? Just to stop Lady Trieu? And either there were a lot of red herrings or a lot of loose ends and I can't figure out which.
