3 years $56 million with a 4th year option that could make it $74 million.

Eagerly awaiting the tweet of the Sox now taking a shot at their fan base.

He’ll eat innings ( I think ), be around .500.

Why give more money per year to Keuchel when you could have had a better pitcher in MadBum? And Keuchel is older than MadBum.

That's kind of all I'm hoping for.

A nice #3 who can pitch 200 innings.

Maybe they talked to him and knew he wanted to be in Arizona.

I am totally happy with the signing. I think it solidifies the rotation. I am shocked they spent some money.

That had to be the case.

Keuchel will get hit. But he's decent at getting out of jams. Wish our middle infield defense was a little better as he is plenty capable of throwing ground balls. All I can say is "cross your fingers",

Yeah if they struggle on defense again it could be a wreck.

I don't see them adding another OF outside of a veteran to a 1 year deal type to get them through until Robert is up. With the trade for Mazara, they probably have their 3 starters in the OF with Jimenez and Robert. At DH, they have this interesting rotation of Abreu, Grandell and the other catchers rotating through so not really expecting them to give a 3 or 4 year deal to another OF at this point. I think it's far more likely they bring in more 'depth' options.

I do expect them too invest in the bullpen though now.

He will definitely give up some bombs in that park and he will have games where he gets torched but he is a quality #3/#4. Not sure if he (or Gio) is a mentoring type but that would be a major plus.

The Sox had to do something so good for them. Ryu is more of an injury risk.

There is also the possibility this becomes a bad deal but again, they had to do something and I think it's a good signing.

I think he's got a very good ground ball ratio, but, to your larger point, I like the move, especially only 3 years. I hope he's more of a #2 starter for at least this upcoming season, but Kopech and Cease are both strong candidates to become more than just middle of the rotation guys.

Best groundball rate in the league last year.

That part is a legitimate concern, much more than your original comment.

I just looked at his HR allowed stats. Much better than I thought. I stand corrected.

No issues, there are other metrics that do suggest a potentially declining arm though although he hold up to career norms after signing with Atlanta last year.

Overall, I hope he can be a #2 or #3 type starter for the White Sox next season, but the young starters - Giolito, Cease and Kopech - really can make this rotation formidable. The veterans (including Lopez to some degree although he's still young with upside) can help hold this together.

We paid a #3 $18.5 per. I'm not pissed cuz it's only money.

We've now grabbed 4 players that make us incrementally better. I can't complain even if I wanted to. Now, at this point, I want Cleveland to keep trading veterans. Our biggest asset is playing Detroit, KC, and Cleveland something like 57 times.
