What church are you going to where the christmas eve service is longer than half an hour?

You guys go to some weird churches. Starting with the catholic church.

I missed Eve service (often do) but when I’ve made it I don’t think it’s more than 30 minutes including the singing. Maybe it takes an hour with the cookies afterwords.

Hey if you want to worship the late december birth of a guy who holds a shepherds crook and was born of virgin birth and was raised from the dead (because he was betrayed by a close confidant) for a few days before his final ascension and whose body a represented by bread and will ultimately be the final judge of the souls of the passed, you could consider worshiping osiris.

look at the Hawaii You mult that just found the internet. Just wait until you read about what they are doing to children at that pizza place in Washington DC

I miss it. I actually miss going to Mass, especially around Christmas. My kids are out of Catholic school (one is in CCD, though), so I don't even go once a year, but when I do go to Mass, especially on Christmas or Christmas Eve, I feel a real sense of community. All of the messages are positive, and the connection with the ancients is real (though cynics may disagree). It would be cool to be part of that again. I wish I were a believer, but I'm not.

The brain-dead, brainwashed folks and the hyper-moral scolds are no fun, of course.

You can still go and waste your time. They won't kick you out.

Personally I will spend the time I saved watching the underrated Christmas movie Fred Claus since Santa is the reason for the season.

Anyone else happy to skip the whole Church thing?

Getting ready for Fred Claus!

I know it won't be a popular opinion, but I find santa's wife hot, maybe even better than Rachel Weisz. Like religion, I'm not asking you to follow me down this path but I want to lay it out there for your consideration.

I know that you know that when you talk about brain dead and brain washed you also understand that people far more intelligent than you or I are/have been intellectually engaged in religion. It isn't just some sentimental vestige or homage to their forefathers.

I'm totally on board with Rick's not going to church style...however, my one bone of contention...Fred Claus sucks.

listen to the readings and take them as non denominational moralism. There is value in the teachings even if you don't believe they are divinely inspired although the Christmas readings don't give much direction
