Need to delete "individual" from thread if athletes from team sports are in the running.

Let's face it, if teams were allowed to hit the QB now like they were in 2005 (2005) Vick would've piled up massive numbers. The Ravens found an exploitable twist to the rulebook in that if you turn the quarterback into a protected-class-runningback its very difficult to defend.

Mahomes is way better and can do way more on his own merit.

Lamar got hit on almost 30% of his plays this year so this post is just wrong.

Learn a lesson from dolphin’s refusal to take the L last night and take the L on Lamar. You’ve earned it.

I also had Lamar Jackson as the #1 QB in his class I just didn't think he'd survive in the NFL.

You had him throwing four picks “the first time he sees a quality defense”. He hasn’t lost a game since that post and just put up one of the best seasons of all time.

Generally speaking if you take the -anti to a player "revolutionizing the NFL" you will come out ahead ninety-nine out of a one-hundred times. The overwhelming majority of these types of seasons turn out to be flukes.

FF, you are not one who doesn't get caught up in the excitement and hype. Acting like this season is one of the best ever and will change the game permanently is bound to look silly and short-sighted.

I don’t think it will change the game permanently. That’s exactly why it’s one of the best seasons of all time.

If we're putting Gibson's 22-9 1.12 ERA mound lowering season in there, Gooden's coke fueled 1985 24-4 1.53 performance and Pedro in 2000 at 18-6 1.74, right in the middle of the steroid era, deserve a look as well

Really, you could have learned the lesson from FarveFan the night he said Dix's 2 INT and a TD were not game altering. He's been living with Dix envy for the better part of six months.

Dix is on his 3rd different losing team in as many seasons. Not much to be envious about there. Next year he will probably make it 4 for 4.

The first two teams became quite a bit worse after he left.

You enjoy the stability of an equal player at more than double the price despite your scouting analysis that lead you to believe he was a better player.

Everybody but you thinks Amos is the better player. The market was clear this past summer on what each was worth.

Off the noggin I'd say one of Pedro's seasons from 97-2002. His best WAR was 11.7 in 2000.

Pud Galvin went 46-22 with a 20.5 WAR in the 1880's.

Bonds best WAR season was 11.9 in 2001.

Pedro's numbers all the more impressive as he was pitching at a time when even Brandon Inge and Todd Hundley types were using PEDs.

Rule changes make it difficult to compare across eras. e.g., 3 of the top 5 PER's all time in the NBA are currently being posted:

27-10 on a team that won 59 with 1.97 ERA

It is amazing to watch the throwing motions of guys pre-2000 or so. Carlton looks like he is lobbing the ball at a family picnic, most all pitchers today are making out to get total velocity. Unsurprising that so many guys blow out their arms and pitcher usage is so different.
