Guys don't care. Not unless it's a trip or a fucking truck or something. Get me a box of ribeyes and I'm happy. I'll eat 'em all in a week.

Get him a 30 oz YETI.

I use it all day everyday. Reasonably priced for the usage level.

Yup. Probably the best "premium" product of all time.

I asked my wife for a nice pair of brown dress shoes, and Skechers golf shoes as I plan to walk MANY more rounds this upcoming season when the weather cooperates. Maybe a nice pair of workout/running shoes or something like that? I also asked for a small chainsaw to take care of the brush around the house.

Also every year my wife gets me a $25 gift card for a local guitar place. I hate hate hate restringing my 12 string, so its easier to take it there and have the strings put on for me. Its an inexpensive gift, but one that means a lot because the strings can last for a while. Think of his hobbies and what he does for fun and rec and get him something for that. Maybe its not much money- like a sleeve of racquetballs or a nice pair of sunglasses or something- but sometimes its the thought that shows more than anything.

The Yeti is a solid idea, especially if he's a coffee drinker. That and a bag of two of his favorite roast.

The bottle of booze is a good suggestion.

Plan a date night. No kids, nice dinner, stay overnight at a nice hotel downtown or wherever. You can give him the head then. Or put the upsidedown pineapple back on the porch and let him ride the roller coaster of whatever is coming.

Hating Christmas is a stance to just be different.

Nope. My extended family ruined Christmas for me years ago.
Way too many gatherings.

This.

It's gotten a little better since I've had kids, and the toxic parts of the family are keeping their distance.

Yesterday was actually kind of fun.

We weren't great at video recording the kids when they were little, but we did shoot some to VHS and later VHS-C. Last year my wife had them all converted to DVD to preserve the content. Yesterday afternoon we all sat around and watched disc after disc of video we shot back then. All three kids were here, plus my Mom, and at some points we were all laughing like kids and at points crying. We saw relatives passed, in their better days, old cars and houses, old friends, etc. It was awesome. Best day in a long time.

Don't remind me. I'm hoping to avoid them this year like Spaulding does with her in laws.
