Survivor Series weekend review

Takeover was better than SS (shocking, I know).

Both War Games matches were a blast.
The triple threat was good
Heel Finn is awesome.

SS was better than I expected.

Bummed the Tag Team triple threat didn't make the main show.
The women's elimination was decent.
Roddy/AJ/Nakamura was great
Adam Cole (Bay-Bay)/Pete Dunne was as good as expected
DB/Fiend was great. I hate the red light, though. Makes it really hard to watch.
The Men's elimination was decent. A lot of fun once the big hosses got in. I just was hoping for a KO swerve
Rey/Brock was as expected. Complete with Dominick.
I didn't watch the women's triple threat. I had no interest. I like all 3. I just had to throw up my ***NOT INTERESTED*** sign for that one.

All in all, the right show won, and it was worth out of

Agree with most of that. I enjoyed the mens elimination match a whole lot. Didn't like how some of the eliminations happened but overall it was great. Keith Lee got over huge.

Rey in the Doink mask was....odd.

Welp, I figure AEW must have gotten like 5000-6000 into the Sears center cuz if selling it out is ~10k then I can say it was pretty damn empty on the side across from the hardcam (i.e. most sections completely open or like ~4-6 token people dispersed throughout). quality show tonight where the only real pissbreak type match was the women's tag team match that happened after jericho's ~20min promo to start.

Jericho is over AF, as there's a good % of ppl who cheer him and legit chant thank you Jericho when he comes out heeling on the stick, then you can tell a lot of the boos he gets are ppl trying to be good fans and booing the heel as a form of validation. legit heat for Sammy Guevara tho as, example, some people tried starting a lil SHUT-UP-FAGGOT CLAPCLAP-CLAPCLAPCLAP chant when he got on the mic. Jericho's jokes were over, and his finisher is still over AF (as nobody has kicked out of it, and tonight he didn't use it (outside of one blocked/reversed attempt) and having him win with a liontamer was a nice touch.

Pac/Neville/Bastard and Omega put on a solid match with Kenny getting the receipt (not theatrically, autocorrect, tho this IS Kenny Oliviet)for.jogging out to.him at All Out back on labor day. A funny note is that the Sears center hangs an All Out Banner like the United cetet has championship banners.for the bulls and hawks. lol. The only thing with Kenny Oliviet is that Cornette has ruined his matches for me because once.you know to look for the jazzhands + stupid faces you can't unsee them and good Lord he does them.whenever his health meter is near/full.

Hangman Page and MJF put.on a quality such as well with Page jogging clean.to MJF, who got to get into it with DDP when.they presented him with some kayfabe $45k diamond for winning the battle royal + final match. Cody didn't come out to fuck him.up/over cuz he was kayfabe hurt from some new indie guys cut from the cloth of Rowan and Harper (minus the beards) or even war machine type "Real men" who are indie guys named butcher and blade or something? after Cody came out and did a solid squash match with a jobber and then was cut off mid-promo by those a4mentioned guys who literally crawled up through the middle of the ring to get him.

At the end Moxley/Ambrose descended from the crowd to show his approval at Jericho doing another postmatch liontamer to Scorpio sky, and Jericho seems.to.be a.fighting champion so the program closed out with Jericho holding his belt out and nodding his head at ambrose, so you figure that's a destination for the next PPV unless it's like 3-4 mpnths.off and they wanna burn a proper match on TV.

The other match I forgot about was the real first match of the ahow: best friends vs lucha bros. I thought the lucha bros worked a proper more-traditional-tag-match with a lot of good looking stuff that came off looking stiff AT with some.of the dropkicks and superkicks and etc. all in all the women's tag match was the only shit match in the show, which was probably one of the better episodes I've seen.

I didn't stay for the dark matches which were Jimmy Havoc vs Brandon Cutler, Shawn Spears (nee tye dillinger) vs Sunny Kiss and then Jungleboy + Marko stunt vs LAX. I figured ditching havoc + sunny + especially Marko stunt was the way to go, and therefore my night ended when the show.went off air with moxley and Jericho in a staredownx then as it went off air Mosley comes down to the ring, Jericho starts running up the ramp, then some.production guy comes out to tell moxley.to leave so mox gives him a dirty deeds and exits.to his muaic.

all in all a quality go around that primarily focused on their better guys both in the ring and.on the mic, I shot my wad on a shoot shirt ( "AEW is Jericho") and a logo shirt + a hoodie so I've supported indie wrestling subsidized by a billionaire and his son. also Sears center surprises you with $20 to park cuz there's nowhere around there you can park without paying so basically they got you for $20 before you do anything at all. My hoodie has a decompressed white AEW logo so I look forward to that cracking + breaking over time, always.nice for an.overpriced hoodie.

and getting out of sears center isn't bad if you don't mind being an asshole who drives up past a minute or two of bumper to bumper traffic in the lane you eventually have to turn in and then cutting in at the last second before the turn. Once you make it past a couple'a turns/streets.you're set for smooth sailing.

and oh yeah, nary a WWE shirt in sight except for the one I was wearing (sandow's "the evolution of intellectualism" shirt) so the tribalism was intact and evidently there's enough AEW fans out there to make this a viable promotion. Here's to hoping they don't fuck it up.so we can.enjoy at least two proper wrestling promotions.going forward.

I know it was mentioned when Punk came back, does anyone else watch the backstage show on Tuesday, it's kinda of interesting what they say, like watching last night's, Ember Moon talking about the Roman Reigns vs Baron Corbin match, how it was the blow off match, Im not saying there the same show, but it's like listening to the LAW that was on SUnday nights, basically using the same words that don't hear when watching wrestling.

Been watching some of the NWA Powerr episodes on youtube. Some good stuff and I am a huge mark for the old school set and feel to the show.

Edge may be 46, but that's a 46 with 9 years of punishment he hasn't taken. Rumor is that he's going to do a few matches a year, special attraction style, so that should help him out, too. If they're giving Brock the treatment they give him, I'd be on board with an old school Edge heel style ultimate opportunist moment. Like show up at the last second to snag Money in the Bank, then beat the champ over the head with the briefcase and pin him to take the belt.
