Last year's offense was also dysfunctional, especially in the second half of the season, but much of it was masked by all the turnovers the defense generated.

The way the NFL is structured, the Bears were bound to be worse this year just based on the schedule, and they should be a game or two better next year solely due to playing a third-place schedule. The other way the NFL ensures parity is the draft, but unfortunately the Bears screwed that up.

This year the NFC North lucked out playing the terrible AFC West and NFC East. Next year is the NFC South and AFC South. Slightly tougher opponents for everyone.

I think you guys are really underestimating the value of offensive line play.

They were remarkably bad in every facet of the game and absolutely sunk this team

Easy on the you guys stuff.

To me it’s without a doubt the offensive line. If you want to say that’s Pace that’s fine.

A coach can’t implement his game plan if the team can’t block for it and every QB in the league is significantly worse when they have a shitty offensive line in front of them.

I agree with this...and Ryan Pace is not only the reason the offensive line is bad...he's the reason they have no draft picks to fix that problem.

Pace, all problems start with screwing up the 2017 draft

That is very true. When the biggest talent your left offensive tackle has is picking up your destroyed QB or RB up off of the ground, you have a bad offensive lineman.

Olin Kreutz believes that it's play design. I suspect that his loyalty to Hiestand plays a role.

Dolphin, do you remember the Sept exchange I believe that you initiated wherein you argued that position by position, the Bears line was superior to that of the Saints, with one exception and one push?

Now, you know the discussion was different than RR memory and you simply choose not to correct the record.

I said they were stronger in the middle which made up for their weakness at the tackles.

Also, the professional analysts never took into account the Saint switch from a Pro Bowl center to a rookie.

The Bear middle got injured and didn't develop. They haven't been good. I don't deny that. We are all wrong sometimes, even in our analysis of rookie RB.

RR didn't have an opinion either way as he was too busy posting about Trump.

I was for sure wrong about Montgomery’s skill but I was correct about his usage compared to Mike Davis
