Yes ... her and Sweica took calls about whether Tyler Houston or Michael Barrett was a better catcher.
Borrowing dolphin's "fiercely loyal" phrase from earlier in the thread, it's a perfect phrase for listeners when the B&B show was in its prime and the fullness of its glory.
I realize the comp won't make too much sense to a number of folks reading, I look back at it as sort of the ECW of sports radio. It wasn't for everyone, but the ones that liked it didn't like it, they
loved it, they were "fiercely loyal" in their devotion to the show, and (I surmise) were secretly thrilled to be part of the cult because 'we' were better than the other idiot listeners who, thankfully, willingly picked up the phone and would get the business right up the moon for their trouble, followed at some point by a shmoz of some completely
non-sequitur banter with anyone in earshot of the studio including the producers to finish a given segment.
I just now recalled - and found -
a Trib article* about the Score (mostly B&B as it progressed) and I recall when I read it back then being concurrently elated and chagrined to read it b/c I wondered, if 'too many' people listened to the show, would it still be able to be ECW or would it slowly be 'forced' to become more homogenized because more eyes (well, ears) would be checking in?
Fast forward MANY years and, as we know, over time it eventually died a slow, slow death - but, it wasn't so much that more listeners bled the show out over time, but changing ownership/management and changing social norms forbade so much of the available avenues of subversive, juvenile irreverence that everyone in the B&B cult tuned in for.
Bless OKC and a few other assorted YTubers for posting what they have. I haven't pled with OKC in a while to post more stuff; maybe I should get around to pestering him about it again.
