That's 500 million less creatures shooting deadly CO2 into the atmosphere. Sounds like a blessing in disguise.

Pretty sure the shrimp are safe because they live in water.

As long as I have an outstanding life insurance policy provided to me by my volunteer status as a hotshot interagency wildfire fighter I’d be cool with it.

I know somebody who was cool with MANY of the Prescott firefighters who died in 2013.

It’s a terrible way to go, but a noble one.

These fires are certainly doing a fine job culling the invasive species populations, if there's any silver lining. Native fauna from Australia are pretty adept at dealing with heat and fire, and the Aussies themselves (like New Zealanders) go to pretty incredible lengths to protect them beyond even that.

Shame about those who have lost their homes and lives.

Still two months of summer left, probably wont get better.

It's Trump's fault for leaving the Paris Agreement. Don't worry though. Russell Crowe is on it.

How do they estimate the dead animals? The number seems so random.

There is now a microclimate over Australia due to the extreme heat over the continent. They need a shit ton of rain and fast.

Did I ask for their thoughts and prayers when it was -15 here last year during their summer?

Authorities in Australia have arrested close to 200 people for deliberately starting the bushfires that have devastated the country, yet the media and celebrities continue to blame “climate change” for the disaster.

Yeah, because climate change has likely been a major cause of Australia's drought, thus turning the continent into a giant tinderbox.
