They had one I think or was it zayre but I didn't go there. That whole place smelled like caramel corn because of that popcorn store.

Felt like a big deal when they went from the "Green Limousine" to the newer buses.

And then if you happened to get a bus with the accordion connector in the middle? Man that was a good day.

Did my shopping at Woodfield, but it wasn't really a hangout spot save for a couple times I met friends from Schaumburg there. I feel like loitering at Randhurst and Woodfield is something I was really robbed of.

I live a few miles from Spring Hill mall. They’ve tried so hard to redevelop it, but Randall Rd is just too big of a draw. We’ve lost Penney’s, Sears, Best Buy and Target with three of those moving to Randall Rd. The food court is long gone.

Childhood mall was in the Mecca, Woodfield.

I think I went to Spring Hill once as a kid and never to Stratford. I once had a dumb running joke with someone where I disavowed the entire existence of Stratford and claimed that a normal-sized mall so close to Woodfield had to be some sort of psyop or something. I dunno, it was 2002.

The deviation between Stratford and Woodfield used to be much smaller. But Woodfield went through the Nordstrom wing expansion and went upscale. Stratford just went downhill, so your 2002 comment is spot on.

My dad would take me too see R rated action movies there when I was 11-14, or so. Chuck Norris, Stallone, Arnold, Dirty Harry, etc. I can still remember seeing Linda Hamilton's boobs on the big screen as an 11 year old Franky T. We used to lie to my mom about what movie we were going to see.

The HIP and the Brickyard - I lived in close proximity of both malls. I remember seeing multiple gang fights at the Brickyard, back when they were classy enough to walk side by side to the exit before commencing with the brawl outdoors. Brickyard 4 Lyfe.

And then Golf Mill was my mall for a while in the late 90s. My wife went there recently and she said it’s basically a ghost town these days.

The HIP seems to be doing okay, but I suspect it’s mostly because Hispanics are unaware of amazon.

When I was a kid, my doctor's office was in Golf Mill, and the place was pretty quiet even then. I used to get to go to The Original Cookie Company if I wasn't there on account of having strep throat yet again.

We only had a 60’s outdoor mall in Kankakee when I was a yute, Meadowview Mall. Lincoln Mall was the place to go for us as teenagers. A road trip 30 mi north was a treat. I was sad when I found out it was torn down a few years back.

I’m sure a few of the old timers here remember Bennett’s Blue book. It was like getting an encyclopedia of all the coolest shit that was available. As I recall, it came out a couple months before Christmas.

We usually got it in late summer. I remember trying to pick out a Xmas gift for my mom out of it.. Once she got wind of my gift ideas, she told me that it was unnecessary and that I should try to focus on a more pleasant, non utilitarian gift.

So I went to the fragrance counter at Marshall Fields.

The Woolworth in Meadowview had a grill that made the best hamburgers and fries a young Reason ate. My mom would take me there a couple times a month. I haven’t thought about that in many years. Thanks.

Kankakee was too poor for a Marshall Fields. All I could do was look at all the stuff we couldn’t afford from Bennet Brothers. The only reason we got Bennet Brothers is because my dad owned an unsuccessful furniture store in the early 70’s.
