FavreFan, you and Kirkwood need to call a truce for the week. We need to be all pulling on the same end of the rope this week for this one.

Go Pack!!!

No truce necessary. Kirkwood is my guy, we just go about being fans differently. He's always nervous about the worst happening, I'm more of an everything is great meatball.

But we all agree this game will be tough but we can win.

Packers are the weakest of the four remaining teams. Every single one of them would have an advantage over the pack, with the Titans and 49ers for the same reasons and Chiefs for a different reason.

They had a fortuitous draw with the Seahawks and barely won with everything going their way. Congrats.

The Packers can beat the Titans. They would be favored to do so on a neutral field.

The 49ers present the biggest matchup problem. If they can win this weekend then even a game against the Chiefs would be easier the following game.

The Titans can run the football. The Packers Defense against the run....not great.

Aaron Rodgers wins the QB battle against Tannehill and Garappolo pretty easily, but I'm not sure that's enough. Guess they have to get by SF if we're gonna find out. I'm not discounting the Packers legitimacy....they belong where they are. I just think you're underrating the Titans a bit.

The Titans are the strongest in the facet where the Packers are the weakest. They might not throw a pass the entire game. Packers run game would be eliminated. They would have a chance but it would take a herculean effort from Rogers and Adams. Titans would be a bad matchup for them.

Everything didn't go their way but they're still standing. Gotta love being in the NFC Championship game in the 1st year of a rebuild

No it wouldn't. They ran all over New England and that resulted in 14 offensive points. It wouldn't be much different against Green Bay and Green Bay's offense could put up 21 against that Titan D.

Yup. Much like the 2015 Cubs they are probably a year early.

no team starting Rogers is in a rebuild

Packers are on a decline, not an incline. The moment Rogers goes, the Lions move up to 3rd place in the division

You younger fans don't remember a Packer world without a HOF QB where you were the laughingstock of the division

The same was said about Favre around 2007. Might be a first year learning curve for our next HOFer like 2008 but then we'll be set into 2030 and beyond.

C'mon gd. The Lions are not moving up to 3rd anytime soon.

GB can rush the QB, I could see Jimmy G getting clobbered a half dozen times on his bootlegs and play actions. This game is going to be close, I wouldn't bet against Rodgers.

Good point. Wilson might be hardest QB to sack. Lamar doesn't have Wilson pocket awareness (yet).

Jimmy doesn't throw deep enough to get sacked often and the 49ers OL is rock solid.

He don't throw deep too often, true..but he takes a lot of 5 and 7 step drop backs and naked boots.. I'd just stack 9 dudes in the box most of the game..send em hard..you're filling running gaps if the run and hitting JG if he's passing. And if he'ses going play action or bootleg he's gonna turn around with a Packer in his face.

49er pass catchers are not talked about as elite but they have some pretty elite pieces in Kittle and Emmanuel with some emerging others

I hope to God that Pettine and LaFleur actually game plan around Kittle. Capers & McCarthy drove me crazy by allowing a star player to repeatedly burn them because they refuse to alter their scheme.

The best in the business, Bob McGinn, analysis of Za'Darius:
Quote:
No team tried to stop Za’Darius Smith (57) as much as the Seahawks. On his 31 individual rushes (he also stunted seven times), he encountered some form of double-team blocking 19 times. That 61.3-percent rate was well above his previous high of 50 percent by the Bears in Game 14. It didn’t much matter. Za’Darius finished with 6 ½ pressures, including two sacks that easily could have been four if not for Russell Wilson bobbing and ducking under bodies. LT Duane Brown returned from knee surgery three weeks ago to play all 64 snaps. Za’Darius beat the distinguished 12-year veteran for one sack but was an equal opportunity rusher. He walked around behind the line 13 times, including eight on early downs as a rover. He crawled on his belly after one sack, then drew even further attention to himself by lifting his jersey to reveal an undershirt with “snubbed” written on it. That likely will warrant a fine from the league. As much effort as Za’Darius gives going for sacks, it’s interesting that he often loafs in long pursuit.

Wilson's game is evidence of why pressures have only a small percentage of the value of sacks. They pressured him into 20 yard runs all day and it almost cost them the game. They are also less valuable than QB hits. Pressures seem to be a metric invented by agents in order to have proof a guy who doesn't get sacks has value.

It's also as objective as the "ground balls a player should have gotten to" involved in most baseball defensive metrics. Not only is pressure subjective, so is the type of pressure. Pressure up the middle is far more distracting to a QB than from the edge.

but hey, a guy says he was great playing against a gimpy OL, so he was great.

Did he come out of the locker room for the second half?

Aaron Rodgers is 0-3 as a 7+ point dog in his career. Covered each spread, but lost all three games.

The Packers are 7 point underdogs in SF this Sunday.

Dolphin is dead wrong on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky but he's right here - the Pack haven't beat anyone except Kirk Cousins and, with help from the refs, Russell Wilson. Weakest, least tested team alive.

They were also one lateral away from losing to the Bears.

So quiet in here I can hear FF editing his posts where he told me the Pack would make the SB.
