3:37pm they took 2 calls and both were north fans. Mac, you are still the best out there, but you dropped the ball on this one. not expecting you to ball-bat this prick, but don't stroke his penis either. hey if he is your friend, you should have passed on the interview.

He was and he did. Those statements are not even a stretch.

I was Caller 2 and although I respect Mike i made it clear that I liked his older stuff.

You did not hear me taking him to task about alienating his internet fans? They must have cut me off, because I was going off on him.

You can tell my call irritated him, and he did not listen to a word I said.

I will listen for the podcast.

I heard it, Pete. He responded by saying he watches TV and can talk about any band or movie anyone wants to talk about.

He sounded like just as much of a scared, defensive prick as he did during the rest of the interview.

True. And like Mike, Chet Coppock was also a pioneer that blazed a trail for sports radio in Chicago. Coincidentally, the two are also both radio dinosaurs whose time has passed them by and are in dire need to be put out of our misery.

What exactly did he pioneer? Being an uneducated loudmouth? This guy had him beat by a few decades:

And like someone else pointed out, the dinosaur known as Coppack was here well before North. Just because he was "A score original" doesn't mean that he did anything new.

Guys, Coppock's act involved slurping the subjects he had on the show. He still does the same on his show with Levine. Mike, on the other hand, burst onto the scene with an act that was very unconventional at the time in sports media.

Well, it is unconventional, wouldn't you agree? When I think about talking, of conventional variety, I think about talking out of one's mouth.

That's true, and that's why North's show stunk for so many years.

The SCORE was a clear departure from and response to the Coppock style of sports radio. I have posted long winded messages on this topic in the past so I don't want to rehash the entire thesis. Mike North was the driving force in defining the new style.

I respect Mac's accomplishments immensely, but I think without North, the station would have happily developed into the Coppock style, as all other principal players were already in the industry. Mike showed them that not only was it okay to be different it was highly popular.

Mike was popular -- but the height of that came when he was with Jiggs. Things were pretty much downhill after the split.
North and Buffone -- a mere shadow of the Monsters.
Mike solo -- pure garbage.

Just heard the podcast of the interview and seriously, who cares. North sounded like he is so important that his firing on the score was like when JFK was killed or Pearl Harbor was bombed. Interesting radio, but really, at the end of the day, who cares.
