I could not agree more. Every time something legitimate was brought up, Mike's response was, "Well, what about you?!" His last statement really pissed me off. When he ended the interview talking about how he hasn't broken a contract and Mac has, I had the same reaction I had years ago. I wanted to turn the dial. Luckily, he was done.

His morning show was awful, and he was getting crushed by a mediocre-at-best Mike and Mike show. Yet instead of saying he was wrong, he turned everything back on Mac. I thought he really came off as a stubborn meathead ... with a touch of vindictiveness. Calling him defensive is a huge understatement.

I haven't listened to him in years and thought I'd give it a shot. I stand by my previous decision.

Mac, I guess I blame myself for expecting more time for calls.
You seem agitated? Did Mike tick you off with his final rant?

I tried to call. Put on hold......never put on. Would have been sweet. I look forward to hearing the interview.

(this response posted also in north section)

I was Caller 2 and although I respect Mike i made it clear that I liked his older stuff.

You did not hear me taking him to task about alienating his internet fans? They must have cut me off, because I was going off on him.

You can tell my call irritated him, and he did not listen to a word I said.

I will listen for the podcast.

Come on Mac, why did you let North get away with that last jab at you on the way out? It sounded like you just wanted to quickly go to break because you had Danny Z in your ear telling you to end it. You have enough power there to keep it going for another minute or two, at least to throw one more jab back at him THEN go to break. It was almost as though it was The Mike North Morning show with MJH as the guests instead of the way it should be.

I will say this after digesting all of this and that is Mike should of came out thanking the guys for allowing him to be in studio out of the box and I think he treated Mac with disrespect. Your in his house and on his air time and I say you show class and apperication for being there and I'm disappointed Mike did not do that.

AS Mike once told Ozzie, your on my show and show me respect and it must of slipped Mike's mind he was a guest and Mac was doing him a favor.

Other wise nice job.

I felt North thought Mac was trying to show him up - which he wasn't. He was just giving some advice. There's no winners or losers with these segments (actually Jurko got to catch a siesta, so he's a bit of a winner). Mac is employed, and Pappy is looking for work - end of story.

Why don't you ask AJ what he thinks of his former segment host North?

How do you think the guys in US Cellular's parking lot feel about you Ed? ;) They can't escape the stench one week later.

I think Mike might have been upset that he wasn't able to talk much about his future plans. I'm sure he wanted to continue to paint the picture that he has many great offers on the table.
Mike sounds desperate. Here's what I don't understand. Mike made it somewhat clear on TV Monday that he's saved money. If the coffers are fully stocked why try so hard to get another gig? Just live off what you've made.

First Flight?

I was busy around the house and unable to hear certain parts of the interview. Did Northy thank his fans? What happened at the end? How and why did he get pissy with Mac?

I didn't hear the interview but from the comments it sounds like North does not acknowledge that Mac is now the big dog in sports radio in this city...like when billy batts was talking about Tommy De Simone shining shoes as a kid (to put it in terms mike might understand).

Mac came off as a professional.

North came off as the thin skinned baby he has been over the last 10 years.

I got a bad feeling about this .
Does anyone besides me think that Jurko and Harry where told to be quiet so North could have a tryout with Mac?
Could this be a preview of the New Era thats been hinted about ?
Mac staying at ESPN but dumping the other 2/3 of the Afternoon saloon and Mac and North Mornings?

Oh my, some people criticizing the great Mac, and YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT. You are a thin skinned windbag. Some of your listeners expected more from you and you whine. Reading what happened during the interview, I'm surprised that you didn't have a slurpfest over North and for that I congratulate you.

i thought it was quite good and about as expected, but hoped it would have been a bit longer interview.

North resurfacing anywhere is instant dial flippage regardless with whom he is partnered. Mac would be a fool to walk away from the Saloon and I highly doubt it will happen.

Interesting thoughts.

I don't see that happening, but it would be an ironic turn of events.

Revisionist history and he was wearing a path in the carpet in 1999! Lets turn the page already!Shit if I had half of North or Macs money my biggest decision would be live bait or artificals

Ugh. This thread isn't that much better than the Hannah Montana thread.

I speak for all of us, I'm sure: Thanks for being a part of it, Frank.

Bottom line - great segment(s). It was highly entertaining. There were a lot of expectations and build up in a short amount of time, so it's probably unfair to say it was a let down. I thought it was good radio.

It's obvious that Mike will continue to burn bridges, be difficult to work with, and throw others "under the bus". He would be wise to listen to Mac's parting advice - among others.

I would be interested to hear how he was once it was over. What took place in the conversation off the air?
