Looks like he's a 5 year veteran already.

He doesn't even need to get better. These throws and pocket presence are NFL-ready, he could step right in.

Cinci needs to offer LSU’s ‘passing coordinator’ their OC job to make the transition even smoother.. but yeah, his touch/ball placement can’t be taught and is NFL ready.

I really love CeeDee Lamb but it is very difficult to choose him over Chase in light of the last two games. Give me any LSU WR.

Moss has made himself some money as well as a TE if he leaves school, which I expect he will.

I absolutely love Brown the DT from Auburn. I'm sure he will be top ten so I'm not exactly mining for talent. At the very least you get an elite run stopper. Pass rushing is always difficult from the DT spot with only a few getting big sack numbers but I think he will be one of those guys who can hover around double digits.

In terms of the beloved and the QB position next year: I assume they are playing it straight and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will be their starter. They have to back him up with a competent pro who will challenge him. They don't have the draft capital to spend on a QB very high.

Given these, I'd like to take a late round flyer on Kelly Bryant from Missouri. He transferred from Clemson, where he was supposed to be the next Watson. He got hurt and Lawrence arrived so he moved on. He's mobile with elite skills and pretty good production. He's a little erratic with his throws but has a big arm. My guess is that he is a riser after the combine so he won't be had as a UDFA.

Bears trade down with one of their 2nd round picks to get a few more bites at the apple. They have a 4th coming for Amos.

No drafting a QB. They have to upgrade at Tackle and TE.

He went from occasionally all but invisible to absolutely dominant. He WAS confusing.

Currently projected as a mid 1st rounder.

I expect at least one veteran signing on the OL and one at TE.

I've been pimping Nick Vannett at TE. I don't know if the Steelers will look to re sign him but even if they did, as a highly regarded prospect who hasn't caught many passes, wouldn't you look at the chumps on the Bears and think you could make some noise?

After a quick look at his Wikipedia he would def be an upgrade.

That's how Pace scouted (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

They don't have a whole lot of money to work the FA market.
They have to draft a minimum of 2 Tackles.....and that's Tackles, not Guards. This years offensive line couldn't stop any kind of pass rush...yet alone run block.

I hate to say it but I think you are stuck with what you have at OT. I'm recommending bringing in the best blocking TE available to at least alleviate some of the problem the OT cause as a low cost solution. At the very least either Leno or Massie will be starting on opening day. They aren't going with two rookie OT and the cost of cutting either of them makes the move unviable.

If they are not going to make at least one move at OT, might as well Tank for Trevor in 2020.

I think the best they can do is draft a RT, make Massie the swing backup and keep Leno going at LT.

I hate to rely on a return to 2018 levels but both of them were acceptably average in 2018.

this was a horsehit plan then and now. you're not going to do jack squat in the playoffs without a rock solid O-Line.

They should have about $50M to play with if they make some smart cuts and don't resign a couple other players.

They will be fine with Daniels-Whitehair-Bars on the interior. Nas is right, they need two new tackles. There are good free agents available, the question is how willing the Bears will be to admit defeat on Leno/Massie and move on. I have to say, it is not encouraging that either will depart. Leno kept getting uninterrupted playing time throughout the year as he literally ruined the Bears season with his penalties and appalling play. Now, that's on Matt Nagy. The coach chooses the starters each week.

Pace can take away Nagy's ability to play guys like Leno and Massie (for no other reason than their incumbency) by jettisoning them from the roster. They save $3m dumping Leno, it seems like a natural choice.

I would be surprised if Jack Conklin isn't signed to replace Massie. He makes a lot of sense for the Bears.

Yes.

It would be nice to get an Andy Heck type signing, someone who is not great but good and solidifies with reliability for 5 years.

I'm not as bullish as you on Daniels. Really, Whitehair is the only guy I am giving a starting job without competition next year.

Well ideally the situation in Washington deteriorates and Trent Williams can be had on the cheap, though not without substantial risk. He would be just about perfect in every way. They could complement that move with signing Conklin, or if they have other plans for the money even a guy like Demar Dotson or Daryl Williams would be an improvement over Massie on the right side. Going with a cheap option makes depth more critical though.

I dont think they find a starting caliber offensive lineman in the second round. Not in this draft.

Trevathan
Braunecker
Gabriel
Mack Restructure

The Bears can't cut Leno or Massie without taking a dead cap hit of $26M for the next 2 years and it would only create about $5M in cap space. Massie is a great candidate to be cut in 2021.
