The theater was 30 minutes away if you had a motor vehicle and don't get me started on Betamax options.

In fact, even our record player didn't work so I had to spin the albums we had by hand to listen to them through the console speaker (that's actually a true story).

Ok, Nell. How about in the ensuing three decades?

I've been busy.

Holy Shit, you poor guy.

That’s the smell of money... or so the neighbors tell me.

I tried that once in college because in orientation you were told you were requred to try everything once in college. I thought it was odd that orientation was conducted by a homeless man in the alley behind Murphy's.

Anyway, the bathroom looked like a crime scene if blood was the color of Rich Dark Brown. I never tried again.

I love that movie. I thought that joke was particularly funny. Not by you, but in the movie.

Not as much as you might suspect.

The Bandit seems happy enough. Surprisingly.

Full disclosure - I did reveal at a board outing that was a joke that I just took too far and tried not to mention again. I was just seeing if anyone would believe it.

The first black guy I ever spoke to was my partner in a college orientation seminar about racism. He went on to run a hedge fund in San Francisco and is worth hunnerds of millions, while I post on CFMB. I think he built a building on campus. RACISM!

Yes. I'd eat it raw on the dock.

Saw a couple semi-trailers turn over and crash to the ground as they tried to unload.

I was also a professional pea-grader.

That was done in the harvester. I just unloaded the trucks and tested how hard the peas were.

The shaker tables separated them so the larger peas would go toward the freezer lines.

I came very close to purchasing a frozen vegetable company in Carol Stream. The machines that packaged the stuff seemed very Rube Goldbergesque. Like it seemed there could have been a much simpler way to do it rather than all these up and down conveyors. But what do I know? I'm a fucking English major who doesn't really understand how my bike chain and gears work. Anyway, throughout the day peas and carrots and corn would fall to the floor and at the end of a shift there was a significant amount down there. I asked the guy about the waste. He said it wasn't waste. They packaged it as their "prison mix".

My first job there was as a clean-up worker underneath the corn knives taking it off the ears. The machines sat up about 6 feet off the ground level with metal grating for a floor so the waste could sluice through to the concrete.

My job was to crouch down under that metal flooring as that sticky shit rained on me and wash it down into the gutters with a hose.

That's a god-awful job.

That was never my thing. We did buckets at C.O.'s around 3-4pm on Fridays.

I drank Little Kings with Ron Asheton from The Stooges in his Mom''s kitchen in Ann Arbor around 1995.

I always forget that story.

We used to do those Friday buckets at C.O.’s. First gross thing was a homeless guy that asked for a beer but then swished his hand through the beer. Being broke, we rationalized the alcohol would sterilize everything.

Second gross thin was realizing those red buckets were also used for cleaning the place.

Just means the buckets were far cleaner than the taps.

What is your Illini Inn Mug Club number?

At the risk of doxing myself, 13047. Still memorized, and I think I have the card saved.

14500s (I remember the exact number but not doxing myself). Date joined: 10/31/1986 (I am 98% sure as I still have the card, but not in my wallet).
