I never did the Illini Inn Mug Club.

I still have my O'Malley's pitcher and Thursday Night Mug.

My 16-year-old uses it every day for his water. The green lettering has long since been washed away from the mug he uses.

DCFS has yet to discover this.

That was disturbing.

Just means the buckets were far cleaner than the taps.

What is your Illini Inn Mug Club number?

At the risk of doxing myself, 13047. Still memorized, and I think I have the card saved.

14500s (I remember the exact number but not doxing myself). Date joined: 10/31/1986 (I am 98% sure as I still have the card, but not in my wallet).

2 pretzel rods and a 20 ounce draft for $1.05! Good times

A couple of dorm friends (neither of whom had previously met a person of color either) thought it was vitally important to have me get into the mug club with them as well in November of 84. That place was a dump, but good and cheap.

I don't remember my number though.

I'm Mr. Potter through and through. That wasn't a persona.

I am an old man and most people hate me. But I don't like them either, so that makes it all even.

I’d like to hear a podcast with you and Spaulding. There seems to be a sexual tension there—like Maddie and David in Moonlighting prior to them hooking up.

No, I never did it. Seemed crazy.

Saw some ugly attempts by others there. Never took a crap on the throne either. Saw some ugly attempts of that as well.

Tried to avoid the urinal by the door when I could that everyone kept open and girls would just stand outside and watch guys whip it out. But, when I needed to, I'd just stretch out with both hands behind my head.

I did some sweet doughnuts in the golf course's gravel parking lot in my brother's two-tone Cutlass Supreme.

What is your method for smoking brisket?

What is your current favorite beer?

What do you consider your greatest mult?

What book did you most enjoy reading in the past 18 months or so?

How I-L-L does it make you to be a U of I alum?

What is your favorite movie of the 80s?

How old were you the first time you made out with a girl? How awkward was it?

Why don't you do a barbecue podcast?

How often do you openly weep?

What do you consider the most embarrassing thing you've ever done?

I'm not going to do the whole BRick thing. I'm not that good. I'll go in order.

------

Brisket - I like to do an ancho/finely ground espresso rub. Cut the corner of the meat when it is raw to know how the grain is for cutting when finished.
Inject with your choice. I do Au Jus/Garlic Powder/Onion Powder and Cayenne. Smoke to 165F and then cut off the point. Cover the rest of the point with your rub and put on the cooler section of the smoker. Put the flat in a catering tin and cover with a cup of au jus. Cook to 203. Put the flat in a cooler under a towel for 2 hours to finish. Enjoy. There's more to it but those are the Cliff Notes that will get you there.

------

Haven't been drinking a lot of beer lately but my local guy at Alter Beer usually has an interesting option.

------

Greatest Mult - great question. I've loved doing so many of them. I wish I still had Joe Biden. His Bird Flu post was one of my favorites. Old Man Potter was very difficult and would often take an hour to do one because I tried to research old '20s/'30s slang to make it seem authentic but I was very happy with how those turned out. Jordan was also hard - at some point it was hard to work in words that end in -ly and TELL THEM I SAID IT closes. Gekko was fun but limited. Hell, I've forgotten half of the ones I've had but I'll say Regular's Troll was a fun one to write. His meta-commentary on being a troll was fun for me. Special shoutout to, not a mult, but the posts of Dr. Ken and his Children. I thought that was some of my best stuff. And damn you bigfan for deleting all that stuff I spent hours of my life working on to make your website a more entertaining place to visit.

------

Best book - outside of cookbooks, haven't been reading of late. I fill my time listening to podcasts. I rarely have an hour or two to just sit and read something - which is why I haven't been posting here as much of late.

------

You'd be surprised to learn I love UofI. Met my wife, The Bandit, there. Dr. Ken Jr. I is there now studying Physics. Don't have a bad word to say about it. Lovie should blitz more.

------

Favorite movie of the '80s - You'll get mad but it is Wall Street. I watched it many times. Cemented my inclination to go into a financial career. Also introduced me to a lifelong love of Frank Sinatra music. I celebrate the guy's entire catalog. Sang That's Life recently at karaoke. My wife and I danced to The Way You Look Tonight at our wedding. Runner up to Die Hard.

------

Made out with a girl when I was 16. It was very awkward.

------

Greg Rempe does a great BBQ podcast. I couldn't match that.

------

Openly weep? Not too often. I'm pretty stonefaced. Most think I'm unapproachable. And they would be correct.

------

Most embarrassing thing I've ever done - I don't usually put myself in those positions. Probably the podcast.

------

There you go, Midget. Bet you didn't think I'd respond.
