Why do I get the feeling that many of the posters here who can't stand him, yet would regularly listen to his morning show anyways, are going to step right up and listen to his NorthtoNorth.com webcast?

And then afterwards, they will come here, and talk about it being a trainwreck, that he is a horrible person and they are glad he is off the Score. Then when he has his second webcast, those same people are going to listen again... and again, and again.

If Mike North had serious offers that truly appealed to him, then why is he doing an Internet show?

the powers that be should create a section on this website for North's podcast people's comments...then watch for those who've said they'd never listen to him again...

kind of the same idea as the "i accidentally flipped on the radio to the Score this morning, and unintentionally heard x segment where mike north said ___" posts.
as much as i disliked north's show (especially towards the end, i.e. in the past year or so), i listened to him simply because he was on, and i never understood the need to couch any criticism of what he said in all that "accidental" bs.

see, it's like this...I have a job. it's not like when I get home and "choose" my programming on TV. When I have five minutes to myself at work, I flip on the radio...whoever's on, I listen till the scoreboard update then if I don't like the host or direction of the particular show on a particular day, I turn it off. My listening habits therefore are predicated by my work, not neccesarily by my favorite host(s). Having said that, as anyone who can read my history will be able to tell, I'm a B & B fan, for the most part. If I can structure my workload to be more free in the afternoons, I will try to do that...

Same thing to the listeners of North's interviews: there to listen to the lies and decry them. I listened to yesterday's MJH interview; I was interested in seeing how the architect of a several-year train wreck explained himself.

Actually, I have a take on it. To North's mind, the MNMS (and through extension, solo midday and Wiseguy afternoon) shows were successful because they got him out there, in the form of the latter show, it got him to doing non-sports stuff for awhile, and it allowed him to prove he can carry a show solo. All the while, making 1.5M, not getting suspended, not getting fired.That's successful to him. As to what the show is/was, that's a matter of contention, but he didn't get fired doing it, so it was good enough. What more is there?

(Aside: I don't completely agree with the POV, as I take betterment of the the station's position & my team mates to be of higher import. (Or since I'm not a radio guy, my place of employment.) But I'm aware of many, many "me, me, me" people out there, and he's one of them. People who pursue own agendas as opposed to lining theirs up with that of the company. If the company goes belly-up, gee that's too bad, but the company was there to pay them salary while they step up the ladder, and it dies when it dies...)

As to Jiggs, he was there to team with North long enough for people to get the idea that he can carry the show solo. Whilst doing that, Jiggs got the benefit of valuable employment. Mike appreciates the benefit of Jiggs as someone who legitimized North to the point where folks thought he could do a solid act. Hence, this stupid comment yesterday about the "Jiggs temple; I appreciate what he done for me; he better have a temple for me for all I did for him"...

(I guess Annie couldn't carry him anywhere, vis-a-vis legitimizing his ability to argue politics. In turn, he couldn't carry her as a legit pol commentator, either. No temples for Annie.)

Streaming internet: why not? That's "current-y". Put on the resume, next to "talks other subjects than sports" and "solo hosted morning show for x years without getting fired".

Can you spot lies, glossing-overs, misrepresentations? You're probably grounded in there here-and-now. Engaging in arguments with your type brings him down the ground level, and away from the up, up, up POV he has.

And that is my book report from yesterday's fun. A streaming internet show with fritzi, knuckles, bebe and the dog doesn't seem worth it. I heard his morning show before, and I had the chance to figure out this POV theory. I got what I needed out of him.

I think it's a great idea for Mike to go back to small-time radio. I welcomed his interenet experiments with Fritzy and I think he should have him back on full time doing the show together. His main concern should be how to remain sane and find motivation to continue to do the show faced with true and actual listenership numbers.

Oh, sure, and remember: he didn't suck at getting ratings. He wasn't the #1 guy there in terms of ratings (#1 only in terms of perceived value by idiot management. Ultimately, it is their fault for being idiots)

If I were KRUD or WUSS down the radio dial, I might love to have him to bump my ratings up...

Did not hear the North interview on MJH, but it seems that he & the score never understood what made the monsters a good listen. It was not Mike North. The combination of North, Jiggs & many of the old time callers was what made the show fun. North's getting away from the callers (while doing sports talk radio?) was a huge factor in his undoing. The score did not seem to get that if one wanted to listen to political talk in the morning there were much better options than Mike North. He really thought he could pull off an Imus type morning show. He really thought he was so big that he no longer needed to talk to the very people that made him, the fans. In short, he forgot where he came from. Now when he claims to be a kid from the streets it is just an act.

Yes he will get listeners for that one webcast, but it is more of a watching the continual train wreck and nothing more,

If he tries to make this a daily or weekly show, watch the numbers dwindle each week. Not sure if dwindle encompasses going down 25% a show though

How smart was it to put up the station managements email addresses? That might backfire. First folks might send in thank you's to management, and secondly, if I were a potential employer seeing shit like that an employee put up about his former management, I wouldn't hire him, cause it would only be a matter of time before my name is on his goddamn site.

honestly if he really is going to go on that webcast and say what he REALLY wants to, then you would have to believe he has already been turned down by the other radio stations.

and hell i can relate. i can wire houses. im even educated for it... but when your market shifts then so does you. i went from making $32 a hour to $10 cash. did i get dumber? no. did i do anything to fuck it up? no. but in mikes case, he is an old school radio host in a new world- WITHOUT education papers to back it up. there are hundreds of college grad people waiting for his job, and because they paid the corporations and schools to get those papers they will always be considered first.

You might wonder from whom all this email is coming from. Me, I think someone is dumping him with messages from an alleged Richard M. Nixon. Notes from dead presidents seems appropriate somehow...
