Hey, if it's a big deal to you, that's fine. If the Cubs had lost, I would still have the same home, car, the sun would still come up and NOTHING would be really different. I'm very happy they won. But it's not a big deal. I loved the 2003 season and when I opined that it was a great season, many here were critical of that statement, saying that because it ended without a title, it was a bad season. To me it was a great season, with a disappointing conclusion. The 2016 season was really probably less thrilling to me than the 2003 season, but it had a better conclusion.

It's not about smart or dumb as much as it's about perspective. Knowing what is really important in life and what is just entertainment.

 I can't imagine what people would say if a Sox fan said "Well, the Cubs won the World Series, but I don't care because I drive a good car and take 2 vacations a year!".

How about if a Sox fan simply said, "Winning the World Series in 2005 was not a big deal."

Sure its not on the same level as your wedding or having kids, but family milestones like that are different. Of course 2005 was a big deal. Of course 2016 is a big deal. Of course Steve is just an idiot.

The only vestige of the Cubs WS win barely more than a month later are a few pandering corporate billboards off area interstates, lame infomercials for commemorative Sports Illustrated issues and losers like Elmhurst Steve still puffing his chest. Cubs won, the world saw it and shrugged, and everyone moved on. So much for being the greatest sports story ever, people care more about the Bears draft pick already.

Normally this wouldn't matter, but Cubs fans have sought validation by national attention (typical Chicago inferiority-complex...) for the last 30 years and their big moment barely made a ripple. Maybe if they didn't win in an election year...?

Going from the joy of the Cubs winning to the despair of Trump winning was hard on us.

At least the hawk doesn't try to hide the person he really is. He's a crackpot, but he is an honest crackpot. Kind of like his President.
