when the TMZ story broke and there still wasn't anything on CNN et al many minutes later I thought maybe someone at TMZ had toggled publish on an embargoed pre-written Kobe dies story. Media outlets all have obits and such in the can ready to go for celebs. Most everyone's aware that Kobe flies around LA in his private chopper so would make sense to have a Kobe dies in helicopter crash story at the ready.

It's hard to wrap your mind around the permanence of it all sometimes. One minute you're here then you're gone forever.

Was interested to see what else he had planned after retirement. His ambition and commitment certainly set him up for success. Will remember him for those same qualities.
