A friend of mine flies helicopters for a local Air Evac team. He says the same thing.

So very sad. Hard to really. The poor mom...lose your husband and kid in such a tragedy

Really rough conference there. First guy stumbled his way through the remarks, saying at one point "while looking for survivors it was determined unfortunately that all survivors perished." Wtf? You mean all passengers perished.

Second guy in response to a confirmation request that nine bodies were on board says "yes that's our belief," which is the opposite of a confirmation. Either he doesn't know or the injuries were so bad that they can't tell how many were on board.

Still in shock. Kobe was the best player of his generation and someone who I would watch whenever his game was on tv.

We are heartbroken and shocked to learn that our former head coach, John Altobelli along with his wife Keri and daughter Alyssa passed away this morning in the helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.

I started watching ball around the mid-90s, just after Jordan retired and right when the Rockets won it all back to back. But I really got into it when the league was anchored by VC, AI, Shaq, T-Mac, Duncan, KG and, of course, KB8. I liked T-Mac and others more but deep down I knew KB8 was the killer of the group. The Bulls sucked at the time but even if we were good I knew KB8 would be a problem and probably crush the team's hopes anyway. I still think he was the best player for maybe three of his rings - two at a minimum for sure - but man the dedication to his craft and the assassin mentality was otherworldly. I tried to take on those traits in my own game and life without acknowledging that he inspired me because he wasn't a Bull and because he was in competition with Jordan for GOAT.

Imagine those final moments with his daughter when probably everyone knew what was about to happen. That helplessness as a father is tough to imagine.

The NBA probably should have canceled the games. Players are in tears on the court and some have decided to not even play.
