Private operators have a bad reputation for a reason. Still, not as bad as the military.

I’m more sad that I thought I would be. When the news first broke I think I was just kind of in shock. It took an hour or two but I finally teared up watching and reading some of the stuff.

I don’t really have any thoughts right now about his legacy except that I’m sure I’ll be rewatching some of the early 2000’s battles with the Spurs in the coming days. Thankful so much of that is on YouTube.

Michael Jordan praying to the cigar, gambling, and tequila gods that crashed helicopters turn into a meme right now.

100%. That would have been my first move as commissioner.

Mine would have been rigging the draft for the Bulls again.

I’ve seen a few posts suggesting the All Star game should have one team wear 8 and the other 24. That would be pretty cool

I agree. Then we can finally settle which one was the better player.

Get that shit out of an All-Star Game in Chicago. They should wear 23 or 45.

I think things got closer/real when Shareef had open heart surgery.

May have been his last text. Could have been an hour or minutes (depending on the time zone) before he passed. I think age cures most petty beefs.

Mark Cuban won't allow anyone to wear 24 ever again. The league should probably follow his lead.

Scary and sad news. He will be missed. He was like Michael Jordan's little brother.

The Best way that the NBA could honor Kobe during the All Star game would be to make the game competitive.

Actually compete during the game. He used to take that much more serious than most of the other guys. Still remember him and McGrady going at it during the game.

Actually get after it during the game.

watched some of his battles with Iverson and each of them talking about how the other made them push their game to another level.

The closest thing we will ever see to Jordan.

I think Phil really lucked into Kobe. He hated what made Kobe great and had to give in because of Kobe's success.

Its great watching his reaction in the 4th quarter of the 81 point game. Just pure amusement but not really in a very celebratory way

Seemed he couldn't reach KB as much as he reached MJ. He had success with Kobe psychologically but it was more of a challenge than it was with Jordan. That's the gist of what I remember Phil saying when he threw up his hands at one point during the relationship after they already won again with Gasol.
