Actually compete during the game. He used to take that much more serious than most of the other guys. Still remember him and McGrady going at it during the game.

Actually get after it during the game.

By far the best idea for the all star game. Wearing 8s and 24s and then dogging it would be an embarrassment.

Competition at the ASG has ebbs and flows. It sucks for a bit then noise is made and it's decent for a bit then it regresses etc. It's a loss. Especially with the trend moving toward preserving bodies and time management there's no way coaches and players are going to go all out at the ASG simply because they wanna do that for Kobe.

A more fitting tribute has to be more permanent. Silver has to get involved at his level to name and award or something after him. Russell has the MVP award so maybe ROY could be Kobe. They also have to save something to be named after MJ.

They can also name some international initiative after Kobe. The league is active in China, Europe and India. Gotta be some division or high profile international initiative that they can name after Kobe. Would be fitting due to Kobe's background.

This tweet is really bittersweet now.

His daughter's favorite player was Trae Young. They went to see him play and sit court side a couple times already this year. They would hang out after the game and take photos. That clip is from one of those games. Atlanta supposed to play today, I doubt Trae is in any sort of shape to do that.

I wouldn't be surprised if they cancelled the rest of the games today.

Depends. Simpkins is probably better than FF at putting the ball in the hoop but that doesn't mean he's superior at everything you have to do on the court. I would have never made the NBA due to my height and lack of above average athleticism, but I know I have excellent court vision, even better than NBA players like Simpkins.

Depends what you mean. Not trying to brag here again because I'm basically a midget but I can find anyone on the court at any time from any angle, looking and not looking. I threw an alley oop to someone your size with my back to him in the middle of a game simply because, like all difficult passes, I take snap shots of where people are and where they're going and then use my eyes or misdirection to create passing angles which I then exploit. It's all about using the defense's stance (they're not facing the basket) against them. I obviously watched a lot of good PGs play and the only ones where I threw up my hands and said there's no effing way I can do that were Kidd (on like 40 percent of his stuff) and Jason Williams.

Again I don't think it's a stretch for the average person to have as good or better skills than professionals in certain areas. You could never teach me how to penetrate against elite defenses and finish at the rim because I don't have the physical assets to do anything with that teaching. However leveraging space and angles as well as threading needles with passes is not dependent on physical characteristics.

I don't know what sports you played but if you did - beyond a backyard kind of thing - then it wouldnt surprise me if you're really really good at one thing, and maybe even better at it then a really average or bad professional.

The best thing I got from those days was an appreciation for how much better professional athletes are than us at these things. Dickey was in his early 40s and was an unremarkable player in the NBA and it was crazy how much better he was than everybody there at everything.

Idk why there's this deification of anyone who has made the NBA. Dickey Simpkins made the NBA because he's tall and somewhat athletic. That doesn't automatically make him superior to everyone who's not in the NBA at everything in basketball. That's a bit fantastical.

There are players in the nbdl or even in college who will never make the NBA but are better at certain skills than NBA players.

Learn to read, dumbass. This is not about me. What's funny here is you want to defend the court vision skills of Dickey Simpkins. I bet some of the players you've coached are better at certain parts of the game than him.

So I do believe it is you that are the dumbass. Just stop while you are ahead.
