I think we're as close as we'll get here. Where I see you going wrong is here "a guy that played in the NBA". That's a bit dogmatic. Because you made the league doesn't mean you have superhuman abilities in every single facet and subfacet of the game, from dribbling, to boxing out, zone defense, weak side D, handles, accuracy, etc. The really good players are good at many of those. Some players are good or average at some and actually really bad at others. That's really my point here.

I think your point is wrong. The players that make the NBA and play real minutes over several years are so much better at the things you mentioned than you’re giving them credit for.

There are many college players who never played in the NBA but are better free throw shooters than some NBA players. You seem to think a 63 percent free throw shooter in the NBA is still somehow a superior shooter to someone who shot 85% in college. It doesn't downgrade the NBA player's overall status to say that someone in college is actually better than him at a single piece of the game.

And the ones that are really bad at it at an nba level are considerably better at it than dopes in high school.

I think you'd make better ball handling decisions than Eddy Curry.

you meant this as a joke and in reality he’s probably still a better PG than you

Yeah I think that is where vegan is really off. I have no doubt Curry would be better.

Back to the Free throw deal with Shaq. In a gym with no one around I am pretty sure Shaq could probably shoot free throws as good as most of us. And if we were in a packed NBA arena with fans screaming at us that just about everyone of us would be about as bad of a shooter as Shaq is.

The fact that you’re hyper focused on FT shooting shows you know we are right. Take the L here man.

This whole argument is silly. Let's get back to blaming bruce Rauner for killing kobe. That makes a lot more sense.

He suggested that he had a skill that could be better than Simpkins. The response to that was the only thing silly that I saw.

There are grade school kids who can handle a basketball better than him and there are definitely high school kids who can shoot better and jump higher. A singular skill is meaningless and shouldn't start a siilly debate.

This thread is a celebration of Mamba's game. Let's not CFMB this thread any further.

That skill has a stat affixed to it. Assists. Still no response on the number. The argument can't even begin until that number is stated. And until that number is stated, one has to assume he doesn't have better court vision than Dickey Simpkins. And let's remember, this is high school Vegan vs pro Dickey Simpkins.
Could be big, medium, or small HS. Who the hell knows who he was leveraging space against.

The intensity of the reaction to Kobe's death has really taken me aback.

I honestly had no idea so many people felt such a connection to him.

Eyewitness reports say the engine didn't sound like it was properly functioning. Doesn't appear to be an SRV.

He was in Los Angeles, whose population is paid to publicly emote.

If he had played in OKC, the basketball public would have still been shocked but Alicia Keyes would not be giving a shout out.

No, it was a Sikorsky.

I can't believe this thread turned into comparing us weekend warriors to actual professional athletes. Not guys like Sir who may have had a cup of coffee in the minors, but guys who performed in the highest league in the world.

There is no comparison. Every pro at any sport is just worlds different than the rest of us. Boyd can probably attest just how good the pros are in bowling. FF said Dickey Simpkins stayed outside the paint, but does he really even know if he was going all out? Dude could have shown up hungover and half assed it, and still likely would have mopped the floor with anybody at Lifetime fucking Fitness. I've never played with a pro golfer, but just hearing them hit and seeing their shots on the driving range (at practice, essentially) lets me know that any one of those guys could play a round with a wedge and a putter and still beat me by at least ten strokes on my best day ever. Even guys that didn't play at the highest level but were still pros (RFDC's story) have ten times the skill that the rest of us have. There is simply no comparison with us.

Reports also out there that LAPD and other helicopter companies were not sending their choppers out due to the poor conditions yesterday AM.

Yes Frank, the LAPD was not flying but there was not a ground stop. They took off out of John Wayne airport also not a private pad. Traffic control would have denied them take off if it were that bad.

MSNBC anchor Alison Morris responded to a viral video on Sunday, trying to explain a vocal flub during a report on the death of former NBA star Kobe Bryant that many on social media took to be the N-word.

Not long after the news of Bryant’s death in a helicopter crash broke, Morris told MSNBC viewers that Bryant was “perfectly cast” on the Los Angeles Lakers, except she stumbled over the name of the team. Many believe Morris uttered the N-word but she said that is simply not the case.

“Earlier today, while reporting on the tragic news of Kobe Bryant’s passing, I unfortunately stuttered on air, combining the names of the Knicks and the Lakers to say ‘Nakers,'” Morris tweeted later on Sunday. “Please know I did not & would NEVER use a racist term. I apologize for the confusion this caused.”

Another thing I am getting from the stories is there seems to have been some sort of engine failure or main rotor problem. They were climbing then suddenly dove. It it were a failure or collision with tail rotor they likely could have auto rotated more smoothly down and some would survive.

Choppers run on different systems and some different criteria than private and commercial planes do.

Think of this the next time someone tells you a season doesnt matter.. or nothing matters unless you win a title. Even if youre not in sports, they probably still effect your life in some way. The games matter.
