whoever the cubs end of trading, is still going to net a set back for the immediate 2020 season. I would bet it help them down the road.
with the rotation and bullpen as it stands, this team is going to be lucky to get 80 wins this year. not trolling....I don't hate the Cubs, but they are definitely not as good for 2020 as they were.

The problem is the Cubs aren't picking a lane now. They won a WS because they tanked, took the hits and got the assets. Now they are trying to be a middling 80-85 win team. You have to pick one or the other.

There’s still a lot of talent on this team. They clearly want to reset the payroll tax and probably hope a reworked CBA will allow them to spend more freely. I suspect this is a one year reset. But it’s a bad look all around and ill timed with the White Sox being ready to launch.
