pizza_Place: What??
A Minnesota 10 game drop, which is huge, puts them at 91 wins. Vegas has them at 90.5. So the lack of replication is already baked in. Cleveland still refusing to pack their tent. 86.5(a drop of 7 games). Sox at 83.5

It all sounds about right to me.

Great honeypot thread to collect all the dumbest Cub/Sox rivalry thoughts in the same place.

I agree. I'm pondering JORR's wager on the table that the Twins won't win more than 6 games compared to the Sox. Drastically improved Team, but 84 wins would appear to be the Sox ceiling. I'd still bet on the Twins to win the division pretty easily at 91 or 92 wins.

I think that is an incredibly low ceiling for the Sox. This team is going to score runs. MANY of them. They may not be the best lineup in the game like The Hawk declared, but they aren't going to be hurting for runs most games. Their defense should also be better.

The pitching staff is the real wild card here. Bullpens are always a crapshoot, but if Lopez and Cease can get better, Giolito continues to perform well (maybe not at Cy Young level, but still good), and Kopech can be a reliable #3-#4 (for now), then this has the makings of 95 win team. If the pitching staff struggles or has a ton of injuries, 84 wins seems about right.

Frank, I agree. I just wouldn't bet on it. Vegas tends to know these things. 83 wins is a very real possibility. Nothing would make me happier than to see them bust out 90 wins.

Right. But you said 84 wins is the ceiling. As in their max win total, which is way too low.

84 as an over/under is probably a bit low, but more reasonable.

This team is so much better than last year's model it is tough to project win totals. Last year's team basically had four guys in their line-up that didn't deserve to be in a line-up for a contending team. The other five guys in the line-up still scored a shitload of runs. The Sox got no production whatsoever out of right field, center field, second base and DH. Now they have added excellent bats in those four spots and also an improvement in the catching position. Its going to be an awesome line-up.

They've also added two quality veteran starting pitchers and a good reliever. I think that it would sort of cinch the deal if they get a crafty lefty and a nasty set-up guy but this is kind of small change and come from within the organization.

I have been a huge skeptic about the White Sox since about 2008 but no more. This team is going to score a shitload of runs throughout the line-up. They are also going to WIN UGLY in a lot of games. It is really going to be a good time to be a White Sox fan in 2020.
