Genius idea. Not surveilling citizens, dipping into their pockets, or changing the way they do things. Amazing how things happen when you choose an easy solution.

I'm not a scientist, and I don't even play one on TV, but I do know that trees consume CO2 and spit out O2, which means that trees eat carbon, which means less carbon in the atmosphere.

It is a very good idea. I also think that the government should also commit to storing rain water in basins where applicable instead of allowing this water to run out freely to oceans and/or be wasted. Out here in California, for example, hundreds of billions of gallons of rain water and runouts from the snow in the mountains is lost and that water could be used in preventing losses during the fire season as well as providing irrigation for farms and green belt areas.

Is there something wrong with planting tress and saving water? Have you ever checked the price of wood nowadays. Particularly the hard woods?

So you agree with AOC's plan to plant more trees that she was pushing last year? Or do you think this is some brilliant plan the GOP just came up with?

Its Trump's Plan now, because he is the one who will actually get it done.

It's amazing that he was able to convince Italy, Ireland and New Zealand to do this years ago and he didn't even take credit. Los Angeles too.

Tall grass prairie would get the job done much faster. Mostly privately owned land though so not as easy as slow growing trees on public ground.

You're one step ahead of me, buddy. Just coming here to say this. Native grasses and native flowering plants. Should put 'em between the expressways.

I don't care what they call it but I do know how much rain water and snow melt is wasted. It is ridiculous, especially in states like California who force people to water ration ridiculously and let fires burn homes and ranches because they don't have the water to quench the flames. There are also enough water to go to farmers because of stupid regulations and lack of rich soil to grow their crops because of their faux concern for two inch fish being affected.

True, we should also sweep the forest floors before planting the new trees.

It'd be like putting setting down a new couch without sweeping the crud under the old couch first, y'know?

Things start with ideas first. Maybe a type of infrastructure project with a partnership of federal, state, and private companies participating in it? Could be coupled with ways to cut down a lot of the old growth that in habits many forest today and provides a shit load of the fuel that feeds the forest fires which occur?

Old growth forests are less effective at carbon sequestration than younger but still mature forests.

Planting trees is a decent mitigation strategy, but it can be only one small part of a much larger strategy.

Wheres that pissed off Swede to tell us what is best?
That reminds me... how do you give a peace prize to someone who is famous for screaming at every nation on the planet and basically threatening them?
Anyway maybe I'll plant a few bushes. That should help.

We've already decimated most of our Old Growth forests. There's zero reason to cut down the rest for what amounts to nil benefit.

We have million upon million acres of to replant without touching designated Old Growth.

It's also a terrible idea to plant trees in the Great Plains and savannas. It takes less than 5 minutes to discover that this idea is less than adequate. We already plant 75% of what this "plan" suggests. 25% more trees planted is nice, but not an actual solution.
