Very nice moment.

A better moment will be watching the cancer eat away at his body.

Each time I read this board, I continue to be amazed at how vile some people are but you really take the prize for being the most vile person on this board. Perhaps someday you will learn what being a good person really means.

Speaking of vile, what were your thoughts when Limbaugh mocked Michael J. Fox and suggested his symptoms were made up?

another bad thought

He wouldn't have even been able to break into an on air role at the old Loop when Brandmeier, Stern, Dahl and Matthews were all on the same station.

I wouldn’t include Stern in that scenario. He was distinctly unsuccessful in his initial run in Chicago.

He was always less popular in Chicago than he was accustomed to but I think that has to do more with the quality of the competition at the time than the quality of his work.

His failure was due to his bashing of Johnny B and Steve and Garry when he entered the market. He immediately turned of Loop listeners and was quickly shown the door.

Too many dipshits in the collar counties here, that's why a no talent turd like mancow has been on and off 20 years. The best radio I ever heard was mid 90's Stern when I was in high school.

Yup. All those dipshits in the 815 are racist rubes.

Sigh! It's disturbing that a 2 page thread praising the courage of Willard Mitt Romney gets bumped to the politics section by JORR in less than 18 hours. Hidden from all lurkers. No recognition that it was a shout out thread. However, a 4 page thread celebrating the life of Rush Hudson Limbaugh remains available to view. At the top of "view active topics" all week. Talk about unprecedented political bias.

Before The Score, I never saw what the allure of talk radio was. I was an xrt, loop, wmet guy. When I went to college, there was the great whfs. Then there was this goofball called the Grease Man and another no name, Howard Stern. I never understood why anyone would listen to that crap.

When I discovered The Score, I was like a kid in the candy store. At that point in my life, I enjoyed very few things more than watching, talking or listening to someone talking sports.

Between 176 in Illinois and 50 in Wisconsin is the DMZ. It's a strange land of Packers fans who like the Cubs, human beings who like WIIL Rock, and cousins who are no longer on speaking terms because they slept with the same girl. The state capital is Blarney Island.

Perfectly put!

Oy, Blarney Island, been there as a kid for Thursday boat races. The crowds attracted by drag racing on water was interesting but exactly what you'd expect

who was that PD who loved to get on air and ended up making tens of millions in the business? I think he was friends with De Castro?

I remember him getting on the air and not willingly play the flunky PD role Howard liked. He was protective of the Chicago guys and told Stern he'd clip his mic if he gave him trouble.

We are polar opposites.

I have never been a big music guy. I was lost when my friends would talk about deep stuff behind the music that they read in Rolling Stone.

I first started listening to Dahl in 5-6 grade and was hooked on talk. The person who drove me down to high school used to loved Brandmeier. Then Kevin Matthews came to the market late and there was comedic talk at any time of the day. I had heard Stern's brief stint in Chicago but didn't really listen to him until I went to DC.

After that grouping eventually broke up, the Score was in its golden age.

It was easy to be a fan of talk in my formative years. I don't think I would be a fan now but then again, I probably wouldn't be listening to the radio.

I get talk to amuse/entertain as such above. I don't get talk to get yourself pissed off and angry like Rush did.

MeTV, whatever it was called in the day used to have these crazy talk shows like Morton Downey Jr. They were like a worse/better version of SPringer. Just a lot of fun to mindlessly watch late at night. Rush had a show. I thought it was strange for 25 year olds to attend a tv show in a sport coat and tie for some old coot, talk about conservative politics and call themselves dittoheads. Not fun or funny.

I said that I never really listened to Rush except on the radio once in awhile. I never really liked him. I don't like pompous people as a general rule and I find him pompous. He was wrong to mock Fox and also others that I heard he did. But this doesn't excuse your vile comments about cancer eating away at his body. It was unnecessary and awful. You really are an awful person.

No all caps. My signature is just acknowledgment of the courage of a great American Senator. We should all be proud of people who put the country above their political party.

 I probably should move this one too, but I had enough difficulty moving the other one. Anyway, this poor guy is dying.

Seriously, I have a real problem with Trump awarding him the Medal of Freedom during the State of the Union address. It's completely inappropriate. Imagine if the next Democratic president awards Rachel Maddow and Jim Acosta.

Looking presidential isn't something that I could expect from Trump at this point. I was hopeful initially but that's dead. Rush was going to get one anyway whether it was on that infomercial or not. There are others who I don't think should have received the honor so it is what it is.

I don't have a problem with him awarding that dope the medal. That's his right. It's the forum that was completely inappropriate.
