Well, it's almost 5:00 and it's not sticking to the street yet so it's not too bad.

I guess it's not constant. If you miss it immediately you don't see it. And I missed it until now.

Yeah, I went a few weeks without seeing it also. I think it only plays once per thread, somehow.

Got out to my car at 6 and it's a blizzard. Flipping between Sirott, the score Howard, and fox news. Get to railroad tracks near my destination red light. I'm first behind the tracks , no safe room in front of tracks. Light turns green. Cars ahead of me aren't moving. Truck behind me lays on the horn for me to go. Where? On the tracks? We're honking at each other for a good mile afterwards. I'm glad I didn't have my tire iron next to me like when I was a kid.

Validation of how fucking stupid you are. You drive to a standstill on train tracks. Do the world a favor and hope for a commuter.

I had a similar situation is Rosemont a few months back. I’m trying to turn right on a green light but can’t because there are people in the crosswalk. This asshole cabby is just laying on the horn behind me.

I ended up holding up my W-2 to brag about how much more I make, and everyone applauded.

Did. Not. Happen.

Roads were fine last night for the most part. Slushy and traffic was slow, but the roads were ok. Today was pretty brutal. Not sure if the salt trucks were out or what, but in the SW burbs even the main drags were snow covered and slippery.

Same up North. It's like no one even bothered to salt or plow.

Luckily, we only got like 2 inches.

Metra kicked some ass this morning. Right on time. Car was nice and toasty warm. got a single seat upstairs and did some meditation on the way to work.

Milwaukee was a disaster this morning. Awful. No problem up until then.

Near home, Grand Awe (rt 132) was the usual unplowed pile of shit, where as county roads were fine.

Looks like we may catch up to an average winter's snowfall numbers this week. We're about 9" behind typical.

Quote:
Monster snowstorm possible this week for Chicago area: Up to 14 inches

Starting monday night and going for about 48 hours.

I’ll believe it when I see it. It all depends on which computer model is being looked at.

More false hype from the weather weanies. Monday and Tuesday it ain't even gonna be below freezing, so that will be rain, it will only be cold enough to snow on Wednesday.

Calling for potentially 6+ inches up here in Kenosha. They have been wrong all winter. Now that all the snow is gone and I got the golf clubs out it figures to actually hit this time.

I've seen forecasts that call for rain and 2" of snow, and forecasts that call for 8+" of snow.

Obviously it will depend on the storm's track and the temperature. It seems that the northern and western areas are prime to be hit the hardest with snow. This weekend was awesome weather, but it's been a relatively easy winter to get thru and if we get dumped on this week, so be it. I've used my snow shovel twice this season.

Saturday night the models were predicting 12.3" in Waukegan and Sunday night that dropped to 7.2".

My guess is we'll see about 6" through most of Lake County. Hopefully it pushes north.

I have a 7:30 am flight to NYC. Hoping to get out tomorrow.....

And yes north would be great as I would love to get another weekend or two of snowmobiling. They closed stuff down yesterday with the warm weather.

Action Recommended: Make preparations per the instructions

* WHAT...HEAVY SNOWFALL WITH TOTALS IN EXCESS OF 6 INCHES POSSIBLE.
* WHERE...COOK, DUPAGE, WILL, KENDALL, GRUNDY AND LA SALLE COUNTIES.
* WHEN...LATE TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
* IMPACTS...TRAVEL COULD BE VERY DIFFICULT. THE HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS COULD IMPACT PARTICULARLY THE TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTES. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FOR UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION. &&

NWS Chicago wrote:
A strong winter storm will bring the potential for heavy snow to portions of the area Tuesday through Wednesday morning. While it is a little early to pin point the location that will receive the heaviest snowfall, northern Illinois appears to be at significant risk, especially north of I-80 A band of heavy snow in excess of 6 inches is fairly likely somewhere in the region. Current projections show that areas along and North/Northwest of I-290 and I-88 could see the highest snow totals. The demarcation line between 6"+ totals will be sharp in the Southern and Eastern suburbs, as well as into Northwest Indiana. This remains a fluid situation as exact path of the storm, as well as exact temperature readings cannot be guaranteed. Even slight changes in either of these could be the difference between your area seeing 8" or 9" of snow, or 4" of snow with some rain and wintry mix.

The Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes look to be severely impacted by wintry weather all across the region. Plan extra time for travel, and monitor weather and road conditions as travel is likely be much slower than usual.

As new data arrives, further adjustments to the area most at risk for heavy snow could be necessary. Continue to monitor this page, follow us on Facebook, or download the NWS free mobile app for the best up to date information on the storm.
