Not sure why he left, all I know is that I have been listening to Mike North on the score since 1999, and no one tells it like it is like North does, he will be missed by myself, and the score has lost some face in my book for not keeping him on.
Mulley and Hanley are great guys, Terry and Dan are smart and funny, Murph is a die hard cubs fan like myself, but no one else on the score can replace North, and I am sad to see him go.

I might be in the minority, but I do know radio talent and personality when I hear it. MIke might have rubbed some people the wrong way, but he told the truth as he saw it, and anyone he offended needs to take a step back and get over theirselves, you can't say anything without offending someone in these messed up times we are living in, we need more honest people like Mike North to remind us that freedom of speech means Freedom of speech.

Where does it say that its within the confines of the law to offend minorities? Where does it say in the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution that the listener HAS to listen.

He can say what he wants, the PUBLIC can decide if they will tolerate it or not. If he offends someone because of his commentary, he then has to deal with that person's offense. Freedom of Speech protects us from the GOVERNMENT keeping us from talking. It doesn't say anywhere that I have to keep the radio tuned it.

Oh yay, another person not understanding what the First Amendment covers and doesn't cover...where is Irish Boy when you need him?

I think a lot of listeners have stepped back over the years- away from the radio when the offensive Northy is on the air. At least the ratings reflect that.

PK is correct about one thing: Mike North told the truth -- HOW HE SAW IT. Therein lies the problem, Kev. Some of Mike's TRUTHS were based on OPINIONS -- and several of those views either lacked facts or were downright prejudicial.

I love how stupid people love to misinterpret the First Amendment. Freedom of speech, as written in the Constitution guarantees that:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What that means to a laymen like you is that freedom of speech protects us from the government. However, it doesn't protect us from the consequences of our free speech. To paraphrase Tenspeed & Brownshoe, I have the freedom to call my boss a dickhead, but it's my fault if he chooses to fire me as a result of my comment. No one ever infringed on Mike North's right to say ignorant shit. He never faced any government intervention...but he did offend many people. If he has the right to say stupid shit on the air, he also has the right to incur the backlash that comes with it. None of this has anything to do with the First Amendment.

Kevin, I suggest you find a copy of the Bill of Rights and while you're at it, hire somebody to help you read it.

AH ha, I see, sorry about that, I just guessed everyone was against me in the arguement. Even if Ike agrees with me, he's still an ass for his childish combacks.
I did not want to start a war here, I just liked Mike's show and I was sad to see him go, I still love Terry and Dan, Murph, Mully and Hanley.
North just made me laugh and his fire and passion shook things up in a time when people are afraid to say anything negative about anything or anyone without upsetting someone. Hopefully we can end this and start fighting about stuff that matters like the Cubs winning it all this year and the sox falling short. I hate the sox, I hate ozzie, I think there should be an Ozzie Guillen to English dictionary sold in Chicago, so lets fight about that all you sox fans!!!

Hey Folks,

Be-Be and I are still receiving great messages and well wishes. We wish we could thank each one of you individually but it just isn't possible. I do have to give a special shout out to a guy who has been by my side for the last 10 months. When I was told to go out and get a better deal some months back I looked to Jeff "Spaceball" Schwartz to be my consultant. The two of us have met some wonderful people over time, and because of his efforts I will be able to make my own choice. Also our attorney, Steve Harris, who has been with us from the beginning of what we knew would be a long journey. Our trip is far from over; we are just headed in a new direction. Many of you are asking "What's next?" Honestly, I haven't made any definite decision yet, so when I know, you'll know.

On Friday from 11-1- Jen-Jen, myself and others will salute the people who helped us have an incredible ride- YOU the listeners with a special web cast on northonorth.com. We will take calls from you and just hang out. Of course, as I do every year, I'll call seniors citizen bingo at the Park Ridge Taste about 1:30 or so.

I'll also be on Ch 11 on Friday night with John Callaway at 7:30. I am looking forward to that a lot because he is a real pro.
