His premise conceeds that ethics makes the argument in favor of eugenics untenable. He then argues that "people on Twitter" who say that eugenics wouldn't work biologically are wrong. Ok. So what?

Even if eugenics works biologically he's aleady conceded that he would never put it into practice because of the ethical implications.

He's not saying anything of substance and I treated it like the dumbass argument that it was.

Youre actually sounding very irrationally angry over the whole thing. Tsk tsk.

Julie just tweeted bro.

You fucking liar . I just looked and NO SHE DIDNT !!!!!

If you'd like to dissect the psychology of it all, it would be more accurate to say no one should let another person make them that angry. The age of the target is irrelevant when there are large swaths of people using that person's words as justification to advance a political agenda. Any mention of the person's age is just naive, hysterical, Helen Lovejoy-inspired pearl-clutching. If a child is used as a public figure in a political movement, don't be surprised when others have a visceral reaction toward them.

Her age (and because she's a woman) are probably 99% the reason WFR, brogue and yourself are irrationally angry at her. So it's relevant.

That’s probably not true and you know that. People can’t see that some power (parents or others) had a cause and got this kid involved. Because it’s “off limits” to criticize the kid that advances their cause.

It's 100% true. There's a huge difference between saying I disagree with the girl's POV/arguments versus the reaction from the board obsessives and other adult creeps (as seen in picture of the loser's truck).

Except you misconstrue any lucid complaint (of which there are countless to make with regards to Greta Thunberg) as what you want it to be. You basically extort people into agreeing with her by branding them as "obsessives" or "adult creeps" if they dont.

I don't care about Greta Thunberg one way or another, but let's not act like she's somebody's kid who came down the stairs while you and your friends were playing cards and mumbled something controversial. She was Time's Person of the Year. She's the face of a movement. And it seems as if that's exactly what she wants to be. It's not like criticizing a four year old whose mom stuck a pussy hat on her head and made her hold a sign that says, "FUCK TRUMP!"

Did she win "Person of the Year" before any comments were made about her? Of course not. You all elevated her with your hate filled criticisms. There is no reason to pretend otherwise. If she's ignored, only a handful of people ever know who she is. That would have been the case if adults who allegedly used her as a prop were rightly attacked or adults who have been passionate about this issue for decades were attacked.

JORR, why don't you find a cute teen to front the Environmental Status Quo movement? They can promote the tiny yet growing anti-science, anti-regulation and anti-education side of things.

If a teen makes you nervous, find an adult to be the face of the movement.

That's what every irrational adult says to justify attacking a child for a movement that has existed for decades before her birth. There has been more vitriol for a child than there was for women in pussy hats or nearly any other liberal person. That's cowardly in my opinion.

She's actually far worse than Thunberg. Greta is an almost grown woman making her own choices. This is a child being manipulated by a parent for potential monetary gain.

Yet you think Bernie in his 70s is being mistreated?

When did I say that? Say whatever you want about Bernie.

I think the process of nominating a candidate by the DNC has been and is being abused and rendered illegitimate in the eyes of many heretofore Democrats.

I'm pretty sympathetic to Greta due to her Aspergers (and wow, she had it tough as a kid, if her mom's biography, which I read a few pages of, is accurate). Many, many teens today really like her. And it's a good cause.

But I'd rather listen to the scientists, the researchers, who often find that the causes and effects of various environmental problems are counter-intuitive. (Of course, they are human, too, and politically motivated with their own baggage.) It seems like any large-scale truths get trampled on in the dance politicians, lobbyists, and cultural elites do.

In the end, maybe someone like Greta can guilt us into doing something that is right, but I doubt it. I don't think that works. Recent example: Sandy Hook. You'd need something like a Civil Rights movement, lots and lots of people who are in it for the long haul. Besides, many find Greta off-putting.

MANY are fine with slaughtered 6 year olds and will spread unconscionable lies about their parents all in the name of politics. SOME may even call those people deplorable.

But it accomplishes nothing. And just because I say it accomplishes nothing doesn't mean I'm heartless. It just means demonizing every issue, whjchever side you're on, is pissing into the wind. You walk away going, "i'm soaked with my own piss".

You can't get anything accomplished with a group who has no interest in doing anything that ALEC told them was bad. Reasoning clearly doesn't work either. MANY attempted to reason and unconscionable attacks were leveled against parents. Accusations of faking their kids death or being actors. You can call that heartless or deplorable.

Eugenics is retarded. Cause I said.

I mean.....yeah. I think it's a pretty bad idea. Didn't think that was a controversial take.

So if you could genetically edit someone so that they don't get cancer that's a "bad idea"? A professor sent out a social media message that tried to dismiss a stupid idea. People pounced on him and declared him evil. We can either have discussions in public about difficult subjects or we can declare they they are off limits, and say that anyone daring to discuss them is an evil fascist.

That appears to be what many want to do. It's a new form of censorship, and it's spreading very quickly.

Yeah. I acted that way because eugenics is a stupid idea. Never said it couldn't work.

I can't comprehend his argument because it's stupid.

It's not time for these types of sensitive discussions; it's time for thoughts and prayers. Please be considerate.

How desperate are you to not seem stupid?

You can't get anything accomplished with a group who has no interest in doing anything that ALEC told them was bad. Reasoning clearly doesn't work either. MANY attempted to reason and unconscionable attacks were leveled against parents. Accusations of faking their kids death or being actors. You can call that heartless or deplorable.

Yes you can. Talk or go to war. I prefer talk. War is even more deplorable. Words don't draw blood. Yes, even in 2020.

Being aggressively assertive about very uncertain aspects of climate change has pretty dire consequences for a lot of people. You exacerbate that by saying "money is a fairy tale".

You dont get to hide behind your youth if you're going to act like this as a globally recognizable figure.
