Some people have an allergy to bromelain. It's an enzyme in some tropical fruits. when my daughter was little and I'd give her pineapple she'd cry and say it's too spicy!

I am allergic to pineapple.. only damn food allergy I have and it developed later in life. I miss pineapple.

I've had grilled pineapple (and peaches!) several times on its own, and it is very good when done correctly.

Never had it on a burger. Not real interested in trying that mix tbh.
