Roads were fine last night for the most part. Slushy and traffic was slow, but the roads were ok. Today was pretty brutal. Not sure if the salt trucks were out or what, but in the SW burbs even the main drags were snow covered and slippery.

Saturday night the models were predicting 12.3" in Waukegan and Sunday night that dropped to 7.2".

My guess is we'll see about 6" through most of Lake County. Hopefully it pushes north.

A strong winter storm will bring the potential for heavy snow to portions of the area Tuesday through Wednesday morning. While it is a little early to pin point the location that will receive the heaviest snowfall, northern Illinois appears to be at significant risk, especially north of I-80 A band of heavy snow in excess of 6 inches is fairly likely somewhere in the region. Current projections show that areas along and North/Northwest of I-290 and I-88 could see the highest snow totals. The demarcation line between 6"+ totals will be sharp in the Southern and Eastern suburbs, as well as into Northwest Indiana. This remains a fluid situation as exact path of the storm, as well as exact temperature readings cannot be guaranteed. Even slight changes in either of these could be the difference between your area seeing 8" or 9" of snow, or 4" of snow with some rain and wintry mix.

The Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes look to be severely impacted by wintry weather all across the region. Plan extra time for travel, and monitor weather and road conditions as travel is likely be much slower than usual.
