My wife bought this crap and it was in the trunk of the car we park outside. She went to put it in and it was slushy. She looked at the container and it says "Good to 32° F." She bought a jug of blue water. Good thing we din't put it in the car.

I learned the hard way on this. I buy the stuff at menards because it is much cheaper than at gas stations but you do have to read the label to make sure you are not buying blue water.

As I get older and have less patience or lazy not sure really I get whatever the yellow shit is in winter. It doubles as melting frost so I don't have to scrape.

If it doesn't go below 0 degrees, it shouldn't be sold in Chicagoland.

Fill your washer fluid reservoir in the car, then add half a bottle of rubbing alcohol to whatever is left of the jug and shake it up. It will never freeze.

I’d never given it a thought before until we drove a rental car from Florida back to Illinois in December many years ago. Somewhere in central Indiana the windshield washer quit functioning. I assumed there was no fluid but when I stopped at a gas station I found the reservoir was frozen solid. I spent the remainder of the trip tossing cups of “the good stuff” onto the windshield whenever visibility became an issue.

I suppose they could argue it's for warmer climates, but calling it "Xtreme" indicates xtreme ripoff.

I had no idea there were so many +32 products out there. Generic Windex with no alcohol in it.

I suppose it makes sense in the south and summer. They save on the anti freeze and its less random chemical in the environment. I can't really believe the savings isn't eaten up by having to have two or more formulas though.

For the past few years, Ace Hardware has been offering the purple PEAK brand fluid BOGO, ends up being under $1.50 per gallon, with their card. I buy two gallons every visit in January, stockpile 10-20 gallons for the year. With seven vehicles in our fleet, we can go through all of that by the following winter. I also use it to fill the pressure washer between uses in the winter.

Lots of guys use washer fluid to load the rear tires of their tractors and other equipment, doesn't weigh as much as calcium chloride or sugar beet juice, but you can often buy a barrel of it cheap, and it doesn't freeze or cause rust like the salt does...

That's a frightening concept.

He didn't mean the drink. Even more frightening.

it wont be great but modern cars use seals that can handle it better than old cars. the bigger worry is what itll do to your wax job and clearcoat. some washer fluids have alcohol but only 5 or 10%.
