Because he looked lost and bad for a chunk of the season

In fairness to the Oline, most teams copied the Packers "make Mitch play QB" gameplan and stacked the box to take away the run option from the RPO plays. The rest of the league knew exactly what was wrong with the Bears last year

I saw it in 2018 when Daniel replaced (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. It was clear that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's mobility made the line look better. I posted about it back then because Daniel took a beating in the Giants game. Not allowing (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky to be mobile for a chunk of the season was criminal. Kreutz blamed play design but it clearly looked like a lack of talent to me.

I just want to save everyone from following the Pied Piper of Fargo on his #Conklin campaign. The guy is a slightly above average player who can only play RT who is going to sign for a price far above the amount his ability should warrant.

That's saying nothing about Burton, as his output was zero. If he's not 100% by training camp, he needs to be cut, and then killed.

Maybe it is a mix? We will see this year I say is my point. I don't think it is missing Howard last year. I think there was a player and coaching stubbornness about a running game. That is what made the so called Packer way work.

The Pack simply said, "Mitchy we do not think you are able to read our D, especially our coverage and find the hot read, then we think if you by some chance are able to find the right guy, your mechanics will be screwed up and you will miss the wide open guy". In Nagy's combine presser he pretty much said Mitch needs to spend more time learning the playbook and dedicate himself to being able to read defenses, which makes sense for a rookie, but not a third year player. The rest of the league sees a physically talented QB that has not been able to adapt to the mental part of the NFL. He's not alone, there are hundreds of guys that have the physical talent to play QB, but only a few that are able to make the split second adjustments on the fly based on what the D is giving them on that particular play.

I like Conklin but too many teams need RT's so, to your point, it's going to take a massive contract to land him and the Bears don't have the cap flexibility many other teams do. There's almost no chance he's a Bear next year.

See Leno on that clip? IF he's on the team next year along with that other tub of goo at right tackle, THEY ARE DOOMED.

RAIDERS will take Claypool with one of their three 3rd round picks.

I don’t think guys jump up in the draft because of the combine nearly as much as we think they do

Seeing a lot on Auburn OT Prince Tega Wanogho possibly being there when Bears picks are in second round, scouts seem conflicted on him, apparently has the ability to play tackle in the NFL, but is raw (sounds like the type of player Pace covets). Kmet looks to be emerging as the top TE, but there may be much higher graded players slipping into Bears slot, afraid Pace will reach for need rather than take best available.

The Bears may be able to spread a dead cap hit over a couple of seasons. Cutting Leno and/or Massie is back on the table.

Pitt is right. How in the hell is anyone supposed to lead a team with no talent at offensive tackle, tight end, and two running backs? They have AWFUL personnel surrounding (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. This shit is all on Pace. He had draft picks and money and totally blew it. The real sad part is that I do not think that they are fixable right now. I think that this team is doomed and it is all the fault of Pace. This didn't have to happen but Pace really screwed things up. Part of it is coaching but who hired the coach?

I watched another Chicago team a few years ago totally screw up a good team. That was the Bulls. Now, that team is unwatchable. The BEars are going that way I think. Another case of bad management and a myriad of lousy decisions.
