There used to be an old greek greasy spoon in my neighborhood that featured the chopped steak and eggs breakfast. It was basically a hamburger, scrambled eggs and hash browns. I loved that. I think it opened at 5 am and there were a few times I was customer #1 on a sunday morning coming off a night out.

the place got gummed up when the next generation wanted to add a party room that was frequently rented out by gangs. I've seen quite a few of these successful decades old restaurants close after the next generation tries to change things up.

What place was this?

Greek diner owners worked so their kids could do better. Almost any second generation Greek owned diner is owned by a guy who can't work for other people or is flat out stupid.

I read an article about how Chinese restaurants are disappearing because all the kids of the owners are highly educated and none of them wants to be trapped working 80 hours a week in the restaurant.

My dad brought me to the diner from age 11 (end of 5th grade) for most of every summer and Christmas break for the next eleven years, except if we were on vacation as a family. 5am-6pm, 5 days a week. You decide that doing math homework is much less stressful.

Okay. The breakfast baconator tasted far better than it looked. A little heat from the sausage and the Swiss cheese sauce were tasty. Egg was a little rubbery, but not off putting per se. The real win here are the potato wedges. Great flavor. A little crunchy. Coffee was pretty good for fast food coffee. A little pricey for a regular stop, but all in all, I really enjoyed it.

:D :D :D :D Out of :D :D :D :D :D

The bacon egg and cheese croissant was really good. Liking that sauce.

Again, the wedges are terrific. They're thin so there's not too much mushy potato inside, like the KFC wedges.

Saw a biscuit with sausage gravy on the menu. Pretty good too. The gravy has some spice. The dog really enjoyed her half...although she's gulping water down as I write this.

It seems like this Wendy's breakfast menu could be really bad for you. Who are you trying to kill first, yourself or the dog?

Yeah, I'm done for a while. Just wanted to sample it. I'm not all that happy with the dog, so that might not be such a bad thing.

Probably some vegan shit where you blend an avocado, grass, water, carpet, and some weird tree nut nobody has ever heard of into some green ass smoothie.

Some idiot around Tinley ran the place into the ground when he cut the menu from 550 options down to just 300.

Is that what that sauce was? I thought it was a fucked up tasting mayo. Didn't like it. I think if I got the sandwich minus that sauce it would have been awesome tho, better than other fast food breakfast options.

I really enjoyed the Breakfast Baconator and the wedges. Both are peak fast food breakfast options.

The honey butter chicken biscuit was just fine. I'm just not the biggest honey butter chicken fan I've found.

The biscuits and gravy were disappointing compared to Hardee's. In a pinch, they'd be just fine though. The gravy was good...the biscuit seemed lacking. Thinner and crustier than what is used for their sandwiches. Maybe it was just a bad piece.

My girlfriend got a bacon and egg biscuit and wedges, and liked them as well. Also the frosty-ccino, which just looked like an iced coffee to me.

The wedges really do look amazing for a fast food breakfast. I am not a cheese sauce or a swiss cheese fan, so I will keep that in mind if I stop there.

so the 3 pillars of breakfast sandwhiches from fast food places are :

Hardees sausage/egg biscuit (add cheese)
Mcdonalds sausage egg mcmuffin
Mcdonalds sausage egg mcgriddles

The mcgriddles goodness is a mystery to me. but it just works.

So i've had the sausage egg biscuit and the baconator.

both were very very good. they dont displace any of my top 3 but i'll give it some time.

The "bun" on the McGriddle is basically a pancake with syrup in it.

Chick-Fil-A has a good breakfast and they do give away a good amount of free breakfast items.

If I bought one and threw it in the trash for you to take it out, would that bump it up your list?

No shade intended! I find hnd's eating proclivities fascinating. I don't post often anymore but still read a few threads and he has been a recent gem here.

I laugh at these people and their McDonald's as I pull into Biscuitville and get a spicy chicken waffle sandwich.

Waving from a few miles up the road...

This man gets it. The true order of breakfast sandwich provider greatness is:

1) Biscuitville
2) Bojangles
3) Every other pretender

Chet we will have to do breakfast once all this settles down. Hope you are adjusting well to southern life down here!

I was thinking the same thing. Doing well enough, the silver lining of this coming stretch is that for once I will be here 90% of the time.

Tudor Biscuit World in WV is up there with the top two. But it means that you are in WV, which is depressing.

My dad is addicted to Biscuitville, especially their country fries. He loves their entire operation. I think the biscuits are a little flat, but gravy helps.

I saw that and was meaning to stop by. That is a damn good deal as next to Hardees(and it is a distant next) I like their biscuits the most.
