That's why I say take note when using the white male as a punching bag. They have a history. When they say,"I just don't give a fuck", they really mean it.

On one hand I need this film to get another month run in theaters so I can see it, but on the other hand I dont want it to win Best Picture under any circumstances.

Well it sucked. I dont know where the hype comes from, at all. The historical inaccuracies and cartoonishly evil depiction of German soldiers are one thing, but the script blew. I hated it. The fact that it was one massive take made it all seem unrealistically hectic. Nothing made any sense.

Setpieces were great. Costumes were cool. Eh that's about it. Massive disappointment.

Watching now.

Life in the trenches has been characterized by many sources, from the British side, as long period of boredom punctuated by terror. I've read Seigfreid Sassoon and Robert Graves' first-hand accounts of the war. They don't jive at all with this film.

Of course reading books about this time in history is only for idiots. What we really need are the pop-history podcasts and stupid movies that inform the opinion of drunk retards like tommy.

I think its fair to ask a war movie to not be over-the-top in its portrayal of the German Army of WW1 as proto-Nazi's.

Why did they keep diverting from their mission?

1) No need to jump down into the empty German trenches
2) No need to drag a German out of his burning plane.
3)No need to confront 2 Germans in a bombed out city

But I did like how the movie was shot. A little cinematography trick that worked out, IMO.

Well in the first world war they certainly weren't the bag guys.

If Germany hadn't been invaded, occupied and parceled so many time in the century preceding the 20th maybe they would not have felt the need to build up a powerful.

And let's face it the majority of "Nazis" weren't evil either. They were people who happened to be living in Germany at the time. And they had about as much say in their leaders actions as posters here have in ending the Obama-Trump drone war.

What percentage of Poland's population and GDP is centered in Silesia and Pommern? You may not like Prussia but its lands have certainly proved good enough for Poland.

It was Poland's "allies" in London, Paris and Washington who let the Polish heartland get parceled out to Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine. Germany didn't have a voice at the peace conferences that gutted and bastardized the Polish nation.

well, at least you acknowledge that the land was historically polish and arbitrarily divided for a period of time.
