I always like a game called Guts. Between the Sheets and No Peak were cool as well.
Come to think of it, some beers, a jar of spare change, and a deck of cards would make for a fine NYE.
I used to work at a company where 50% of the sales people were Mormon. The Mormon dudes didn't drink, no sugar, but they gambled bigtime. Company would have annual training that everyone would fly into for week and almost every night there would be high stakes card playing and I introduced guts and Between the Sheets to these guys. Between the Sheets is such a simple game, Dealer flips up two cards and the player whose turn it is bets if the next card will be between the two up cards. Usually first trip around you can only bet your ante to get back and next round you can bet the whole pot. If you lose you have to put what you bet back into the pot. Several times people betting the whole pot would lose and have to put back in $200, $500 into the pot. Lots of yelling, people running to ATM, promissory notes. Good times.
