That's what Denis Demon recommends.

I think we can all agree that the CEO of Spirit Airlines should be burned at the stake.

Never used them. What's their major malfunction?

Slave ships probably had better accommodations.

UAL is by far the worst run of the four majors. Spirit is such a shitty airline that I can’t believe the FAA let’s them fly.

I've used Spirit a few times over the past few years and I was pleasantly surprised. Sure they try to sell you a credit card every 5 mins but the planes were new. No duct tape on the seats and the flights were on time.

When there's a vaccine and this virus thing is over the market will go up 50% in say a year and a half. But it'll be down 50% when this happens. You need a 100% gain to recoup a 50% loss. The 50% gain will only recoup half the loss for the buy and holds. Someone who got out with a 10% loss will only need an 11% gain to recoup his loss.

You need to work on your math.

Bottom line, you haven't "lost" anything until you get out.

Sort of like Schrodinger's portfolio.

His math is right

Show me using something simple, say $100.

$100-50=$50
$50×.5=$75

Now show me how getting out down 10% only needs an 11% uptick from $50 to get even.

I feel like that part was inserted later because I didn't see it.

It would still get you to 99.9

No it wouldn't.

It you got out at 90. It dropped to 50. Bought in at 50. You would need it to go up 20%($10) to recoup the $10 loss.

11% would be $5.50.

That's been my experience when I've flow Spirit too, but I think we both must have just gotten lucky. Their reviews are terrible.

I assumed that he was saying that if you got out at 90%.

Spirit at its best is "well THAT wasn't so bad!", but at its worst is a seat with as much cushioning as a chair in a Greyhound station while the person in front of you reclines their one inch back and still practically into your lap, then you go to get your luggage and you see honest-to-God garbage bags coming off the carousel.

I use the baby blue garbage bags so it's easy to spot

UA and AA are cockroaches, they'll never die. Would not be surprised if Delta gets caught out in a precarious spot and croaks.

If things come back online soon, airlines are going to make a killing if they can properly hedge the currently cheap fuel costs.

And money is basically free, there's no reason they cannot borrow their way out of this.

Except American, I think they are like $30b in debt already.

Obviously Spirit caters to the low cost flyer. So you're not doing to much business travel, and you are looking for customers out there who are very cost conscious for one reason or another. Obviously the a la carte pricing at Spirit is outrageous.

I've never had a problem with them the 3-4 times I have flown with them, and I think statistically they have the most modern fleet. That said, my experience - air travel and otherwise - penny pinching type people are the first to complain, and that's the bulk of Spirit customers. So these morons book a $34 fare with Spirit, and then bring 20 bags and have to pay $4k to get them on the plane. Then they have to buy a coke, etc. So they are pissed from the word go and complain like nobody's business.

Look, is Spirit Air luxurious travel? No. Are they a low fare carrier? Yes.

You know what you are going to get. Any traveler on any airline who has come idealized concept of travel is a dipshit.

It's transportation, leave on time and arrive on time without crashing = a good experience for One Post.
