No. But the administration fiddling around, completely ignored intelligence warnings in favor of Chairman Xi hurt. Completely dropping the ball on testing and factual reporting made this worse than it would have been.

If anything other than November and phony numbers mattered to leadership.

Who cares about WHO? There was enough information available to know this needed to taken seriously as early as January. The US did not do that because we have taken on more of an autocratic approach. The leader of our autocracy did not take this issue seriously in his comments and actions until mid March. Once he did things are at least being done to confront the problem. We needed proper planning to begin much sooner and this wouldn't have been as bad. The fact a vaccine isn't available shouldn't be a huge surprise as the virus strain didn't even exist. You quell the spread by being diligent and proper planning. Seat of the pants leadership isn't going to work. That's what we got at the beginning and it cost us.

To start; Take it seriously on the Jan 3rd. Start meetings with how to handle its prevention or deal with the aftermath of its arrival to the US on Jan 18. Not fire yet another employee on Jan 27. Not dismiss the reports as a hoax or nothing on Feb 19 and 28. Not lie on March 10. Stay off the links and get a real plan together on any number of days.

I wish we knew more about the planning for this. I agree with your thought that you can't stop mother nature so the best thing we can do is plan on how to combat it. Which could mean building hospitals or center or producing more of the things that we need for it. Staying in our house for two months isn't viable and The possibility of it ramping back up in the fall is there. You can't shut down the country again for two months. There's all sorts of diseases out there and when it comes down to it I don't think that they are or always will be containable what you really have to do is figure out how to treat them. And really we're probably the best country equipped to do that.

Darkside, clearly Trump and his administration knew more about this thing than I did when I made those posts. If you want to go all Seacrest and deflect all the blame to somebody else, go right ahead. There are MANY reports out there than Trump did not take this virus seriously until it was too late. His lack of reaction is absolutely a part of the reason things are shut down now. It is not the only reason, but its definitely a contributing factor.

Dude go back like I did and read the CDC transcripts. They didn't fuckin know, no one did. Hell we were at the time only seeing cases in one area of china and there was not one US case. There was no way at all of knowing how serious this was on Jan 3rd or even a month later.
And I'm not deflecting blame on anyone at all. Quite the opposite. Im saying there is no "blame". The virus was going to do what it was going to do no matter what we did.
