Dr Ken says this old ass show is worth watching. Bored enough during this quarantine to give it a shot. Starting the first episode now

Forgot that back in the day every second of non dialogue screen time had to be filled with a weird instrumental

Give it a chance. Rockford is a legendary character but, unfortunately, he's trapped in the 1970s genre of TV detective shows. They break the tropes more than most though. That's what made it great at the time. It was just different enough.

The Raylan Givens of his time.

It’s not terrible.

The “$200?” “... and expenses” line reminded me of the 13 years (and 4 months) line in its delivery

I started watching the pilot too. They get a better actor to play his Dad after this.

Rocky.

It's the best.

Late night feeding of our daughter was prime Rockford Netflix time.

Used to watch it with my Dad when it was on prime time which adds to the greatness for me.

I hated the wide-tie style. Looks ridiculous if you take your suitcoat off.

 I thought the same thing when he was tying his tie and just shrugged it off as more weird 70’s fashion sense

Damn, I love that gold Pontiac Firebird.

He did most of his own car stunts also. He was a stunt driver as well.

See any of the tom selleck episodes get?
The one where his watch beeps every 10 minutes to remind him time is passing is good.

That's what got him Magnum P.I.

A lot of things would have gotten him Magnum PI. I can't see him as Indiana Jones.

He played essentially the same character on Rockford and Rick was on there too. They spun them off, sent them to Hawaii, changed their names and created Magnum P.I. with the same production group.

And was on the sidelines for most Raiders games as well.

But I never really cared for this show.

He was a good looking guy. He'd have been fine.

This show is too old. I can remember my parents watching it and me complaining. Funny how things come full circle.

Yea, Garner shows up on one of the NFL Raiders films.

I'll assume that's a typo.

Sure, I know. We always come out fine.

I'm just describing what happened.

It was great back then. Dated now. Me and my buddies named the act of reversing very fast spinning the wheel then going forward without missing a beat “the Rockford”.
