As a Chicago Radio Veteran, I really don't think any Chicago personality, especially on radio, ever left voluntarily. Especially one who was getting big money.

The reason this almost never happens is because at some point THE AGENT steps in and tells you to sign the deal or you will end up in your basement broadcasting on the net!

This is what an agent does. While your deal is expring , he is talking to other stations to make sure you REALLY HAVE A REAL OFFER. (whether he is allowed to or not)

If someone had an agent and paid that agent 7%, I can only speculate here, that someone would be working at the Score right now for more than the $500,000 fee that agent would have taken on the last deal.

Other benefits of having a real agent would be that you are not percieved as the goofball you are. You are not seen sitting on the couch of the WLS waiting room, like an old man going for a proctology exam.

The problem when you pay your lawyer an hourly fee, he only works when you ask him to. He only does what you tell him to do.

Thus when you act like a 4 year old and at the same time you are about to cost yourself a job, and the agent a fee, the agent tells you what you should do whateher you like it or not.

Much better than having your Pres. and VP of Mike North, Inc. tell them how proud they are of you for walking out the door and a dream job for 99.99% of America.
