Our leaders are doing a really bad thing pitting people against each other. Stuff like that is bound to happen.

I know this disease is airborne and we're trying to mitigate the amount of people that require hospital care, but just think about how much different this is than the way were were told to treat people who were HIV positive. Again, I know this is easier to catch, but at the time HIV was a death sentence.

There is no argument. Simply stating my wife's experience at her hospital in Chicago is no where near capacity with the predicted peak to arrive in 2-3 weeks. From media reports, NYC is already buckling and they haven't even reached the peak.

Or I could exaggerate everything and bombard the thread with predictions of chaos and pandemonium.

I don't know if 7 million is the right number but you've been explaining the curves and peaks of the virus. I'm sure you understand that we haven't reached peak starvation yet. The rioting is just beginning in southern Italy. Amazon and Instacart just went on strike in the U.S. with calls for a national general strike growing louder. I don't think it's crazy to think that the shelves at Walgreen's could be empty in a month even if the doors remain open.

Have we reached...ANY starvation yet, as a result of government shutdowns? I haven't heard of any, have you?

Rioting doesn't = starvation. And northern Italy is the area that has been decimated by the virus, right?

I know DB is getting his marbles hot on the Walgreen's thing....but I don't get it. Walgreen's is open. The state said it could stay open. It's an option just like many other stores.


Look, the area we can focus on for predicting how a lot of this goes in America is in NYC. They are clearly ahead of most of us in many ways. If several hundred thousand people starve to death in NYC because the state told people to (mostly) stay home for a while and that some businesses had to change....then I'll start being worried about the possibility of 7 million people nationwide starving to death.

Also - didn't I see you say in another thread that overall deaths in the US are down this month? That can't be good for the starvation totals.
