She could have meant rolodex. Meaning all of her connections with ball players are worth more than what the Score offered her. It's a dumb comment either way. Jesse gets a lot of ball players. Mulli and Hanley are getting interviews. I think the Score will be fine without Jen's connections. Some how they got guests for 12 years before Jen got there.

You're replacable Jen. I know we all like to think we're not. In any line of work. But it's simply not true.

Like I said, you should be thrilled at what the Score gave you. You had no talent and got to be on the air. You can put that on your resume. There are several talented women who have never gotten the chance that you got. You didn't do well at it, Jen. I doubt any other stations are beating down your door. Still, you got a chance.

I did and I will post her reply if she does respond....

I think you guys have got her all wrong. I don't think she believes she was wronged. I think she knows she does average or below average work. The Score could easily phase her out and who knows what they offered to pay her.

There was no security if she stayed at the Score. North will take care of her and she knows it. It makes more sense to go with him.

well, in the article she made it sound like she was wronged, she said she was insulted by the score's offer.

i agree with you though - what did she have to lose by following north? she wasnt going to be on the air at that station, and, if she follows pappy, and he does turn up somewhere with a gig, she knows she will be rewarded for her loyalty, and she will have a good gig again, doing what she wants to.

i dont get why people are angry at her. she is going where she think she has the best opportunity to do what she wants to do, and, if it doesnt pan out, how much worse off will she be than if she stayed at the score? you could probably make the kind of money they offered her doing a lot of other things besides doing shit work at the score.

I'm not angry. I just think it's arrogant for her to call out the Score since they gave her a wonderfull starting job. A job that some never get.

Of course she should go with North. But he doesn't have anything yet. I don't think it's a guarentee that he will get something. I would have stayed just to stay in the radio business. She could have been at the Score until she found something better or until Pappy got something. But, of course, she can do what she wants. I just think she should have said "thanks" to her CBS bosses. Instead, she had this "how dare they" tone. Why burn that bridge? Who is she to have that attitude anyway? I guarentee you they are laughing at her. They'll never tell her that but they'll think twice if she applys at one of their other stations. These radio guys talk to one an other.

well, i dont work in radio, but if my boss got whacked, and the higher-ups then came to me and offered me a shit job for a fraction of the money, id be ready to go, too. we dont know what was said, maybe she has thanked them for the opportunity. just because they gave it to her, doesnt mean she owes it to them to stick it out doing a lousy job, that clearly she doesnt want.

i guess it would depend on her financial situation, how much money she would be making, what other kinds of things she wants to do. if her goal is to be on the radio, on the air, and cbs said there was no way that was going to happen, and pappy said "stick with me, and i will give you a shot", where is her best chance?

i didnt care for mike north at the score, i have next to no knowledge of jen patterson, but to me, she doesnt owe cbs a damn thing. you know how i thank my company? i come in every day and bust my ass, and come home dog tired to my family every night. and they thank me with a paycheck. after that, i dont owe them shit, and they dont owe me shit. if they did something like pull my job out from under me and made me some kind of shitty offer to stay, i wouldnt hang around thanking them for anything either. id grab what i saw as my best opportunity to do what i want to do, and say "SEEYA!'.

She is just following Pappys lead, she is to young to understand whats going on. It was her real first job, she thinks it works the same everywhere, which she will find out when she gets another job after she tires of being pappys personal valet and whatever else she will be doing.

Her mistake on leaving the score should be just chalked up to youth and taking the adivce of a moron like North. I think Babcock should do another interview with Jen in two years and see how she see's things, I am pretty sure she will have a different view and if she thinks she was screwed over by the score, wait till Pappy is done with her, she wont know what hit her.

Right. It came fast and easy for Jen. It doesn't work that way. Maybe she doesn't owe CBS anything. But she owes it to herself not to burn bridges. That's what she did. If nothing else don't take their offer but you certainly don't make the comments she made in the paper. That's just stupid for a girl in her situation.

Right Rodeo, Pappy has convinced her that the Score is evil. She's slinings arrows like she is a star. Jen, the Score gave you an excellent start. Say thanks. There is no guarentee that Pappy gets another job. There is also no guarentee that, if Pappy gets a job, he'll have the power to hire his staff. You should keep that in mind, Jen.

She's living in a dream world. She thinks these radio shows come easy and Pappy is beloved in the industry. He's not. He has failed and he bitches. Why would other execs want to take that on? I think Jen thinks that a Pappy/Jen Jen show is out there. It's not.

I wonder if she would have garnered more respect from others in the industry if she would have taken the offer from WSCR and made a go of it on her own? I think this just reaffirms what many people rightly or wrongly believe -- that the only reason she had a job in radio was because Mike thought she looked good in her Gibsons outfit.

Has anyone actually heard her talk sports? Could she legitimately fill-in and host a show as the other producers do?

That's true. Somebody here posted Jen's comment on her myspace. She said "Ive decided to go in a different direction in my life."

No, Jen, a different direction would have been staying at the Score without the Pappy crutch. Just working in radio without the "What's up Jen Jen?" "How's my little dumpling?", "Dat's a nice outfit Jen. Va va va voom!!!!", "Look at Jen Jen, Fred. She's so cute when she's mad."

That's what you were Jen. You might not realize it. You were made into a laughing stock. If Pappy can land a job you're fine. Otherwise, you'll always be that joke.

So you're right. Staying at the Score might have eliminated that image of her by other people in radio.

you guys are too much. you talk like you know what is going on over there behind the scenes, reading all kinds of stuff into her remarks, knowing how things played out over there, playing it like she has made some kind of horrible mistake. nobody knows what she has in her future, she may or may not have ideas about what she wants to do. but for you to come out and blindly say she has made a stupid, youthful mistake without even knowing her or her aspirations beyond what you read in this article is silly speculation. maybe she knows radio isnt going to be her future, she will take another stab at it with pappy, and if it doesnt work out she will do something else. you assume she hasnt thought anything through, with no basis, and just made an uneducated decision. only she knows what she wants to do, no matter how much you guys think you have it all figured out because you read an article in the herald.

Hey, that's what we do here. It helps kill a Sunday while watching the Sox game. What can I say?

I'm not speculating at all on this point: I read what she said in the paper. It's stupid and arrogant to make those comments. Who the fuck is she? No, I don't think she thought anything through when she made those comments. She just felt like telling people how she was wronged. I think she has a broadcasting degree. It is safe to assume she'd like to stay in broadcasting with or without Pappy.

You know what's funny? The writer tried to do Jen a favor. It was meant to be a "look at this great girl" piece. Jen fucked that up with her quotes. The writer even tried to paint her as "rags to riches" even though there is no evidence of that.

well, at the end of the day, i could really give a rats ass one way or the other anyhow, i got problems of my own to deal with, and i never liked his show anyway. i guess i just tend to give people a break when they are in tough spots. ive had some tough choices ive had to make before (as have we all), and i dont envy her position, especially if it depends on his success (yikes).

you are right, thats what chat boards are for kicking shit around and having opinions and killing time. im still struggling to stay at rags - i fear i might drop lower than that, and then i will be calling pappy for a gig, too.

Oh by the way, I have made mistakes in my life. I don't want to give the impression that I'm perfect. Far from it. I've fucked up plenty. But nobody gives a shit about me or else there would be a Beardown chat board.

Jen and Pappy are public figures. That's why we have a site like this.

I really hate it when someone says that, no offense, it just reminds me of Kordell Stewart and him being bad as a Bear

I think people can have opinions and people like Pappy and Jen are predictable, so its fun to say what going to happen and when we are right, this is the place to crow. Thats why the call them message boards.

I'll be busy his week guys but I'll still be checking the boards. Can someone ask Rock, Goff, Drinkywhat they think about the comments from that article. It should be open season considering all of "dose gize" actually subbed as hosts which was something she could never do. I hope those guys light her up. This should be a fun week on THE BOARD. I dont think those guys will appreciate hers or Norths comments.

Do you think B+B will comment about Norths comments and Jens comments? I dont like those guys but I know they like their producers and I'm sure they'd have a much different take. Since they are now the "stars" and they are the most vocal, I would be shocked if they dont have any reaction to this.

I don't think anyone will go public with their comments, but i would hope they are all laughing at the quote by pappy that jen is the best producer of sports radio in the country.

I can just see this great and valuable Rolodex of hers: Dennis Farina, Tom Dreesen, GIbson's, Zed451, and a couple of hair & nail salons.

I would think they would be particularly irksome to Drinky. He is the true rags to t shirt story among the SCORE producers.

The guy had a career. He had a family. He chose to take a different path and went to broadcast school later in life. He got his chance as an intern, busted his can as a producer with Murph, moved over to the top show on the station and has worked his way into on air shifts. He may be a drinky but how can you not admire his determination.

Regardless of the interview, Jiggles' presence at the SCORE had to be a source of amusement and annoyance to a person like Matt.

There are so many things wrong with this article, it's absolutely ridiculous. I'm moved to come out of my self-imposed exile from all things North-related to comment.

As some of you have pointed out, "rags" to riches? What rags? Do cheerleaders at Libertyville HS dress in rags? Don't Gibson's waitresses do at least OK?

She admits her rolodex and all the great contacts she can book on the station are such valuable assets of hers, but then balks when they want to make her the booker. I would call that playing to her strength. Apparently North's opinion that she's the greatest sports producer in America is just that: North's opinion. If she were that great, the Score would still have her "executive producing" something.

As noted, the "daughter" thing is really creepy. I usually don't hear men say to their daughters that they'll give them $100 to walk around in a swimsuit and heels like Mike did when they were at the Super Bowl, I think.

And yes, her "cuteness" and "femininity" have been played up ad nauseum for years by North. Now all of a sudden she accuses the station of wanting to exploit it. Please.

North and Jen deserve each other; they both inhabit the same dream world.

it all comes down to money...if she made a ton of money booking talent, she'd be back, "using her femininity"

Of course. She had no problem using her femininity on a simpleton like North. Acting cute got her an internship. She had no problem using it to get North to make her EP and news women. She had no problem letting North objectify her on the air when she was making decent money.

Then, North leaves, the Score offers her 28k (I'm guessing), for a nothing role. A role they created just for her cuz they were trying to be nice.

That did it for Jen Jen. How dare they use her like that. "After all I did for the station." How dare they use me to get the ball players to come on shows. That's beneath me. I'm a news women god damnit. You will respect me.

C'mon Jen. Don't bitch about the very thing that got you the job in the first place. Plus, like you guys said, if it was 50k to do that job she would have done it.

Jen, the Score meant more to you than you meant to the Score. I know you don't believe that but it's true.
