I have no problem at all with the hawk being exposed as a fraud if that is indeed true.

I posted in this thread because the things LTG is using to support his claim are just not true. The draft was clearly in effect when the hawk claimed to be drafted.

My only brother is 24 years older than me and he was involved in this deal. He drew like 350 and he has told me how hard it was to be excited when you had friends who got a low number and who would be heading off to war. Hard to imagine.

Draft dodgers were well known from the Viet nam War. MANY went to Canada. I learned that at some point in grade school. Ltg did too.

Yeah it was a crazy deal. My parents were 50 and 44...I was the late in life child that was obviously not planned I have nieces that are older than I am.

No one ever said that there wasn't. I was off on the timing of the draft and that's it. Again the misconstrue of what was said. The lottery was held in 69 but no mate as I said I'm fairly certain on this one actually

My wife's brothers are 17 and 18 years older then her respectively.

Both were drafted. One never ended up in Asia.

The other brother was a door gunner. He went on a drinking binge every February for the first 15 years we were married.

He has never spoken of it, and I don't expect that he ever will.

On a side note, my wife's uncle served in the Pacific Theatre in WW II. He was one of the soldiers that carried Hirohito to the surrender signing.

His wife owns Hirohito's Japanese flag, and his side arm.
