Good story. Kids doing normal kid stuff is making this somewhat tolerable.

If you were Greek this would be the wrong thread.

You mean my man Wayne? (Real first name by the way.). I sent him an anniversary card this past January and he sent me a nice card back so I can hope he is doing well.

It would be awesome if Wayne showed here, but he is an east Texas man who is a hardworking blue collar type dude who probably would be appalled that morons like us spend this much time on a message board.

Let me put it this way. Would you speculate that a man with no functioning kidneys who still was working a blue collar job would be a message board kinda dude?

Still would be awesome if he showed though. Wayne strikes me as the type of guy with no e- mail address. When I met his family they told me how invested he was in his young granddaughter - who is right around the age of Three Post, so that was really cool. He seemed like a pretty rugged guy ( obviously) so I love juxtaposition like that.

My second boy got into Jones Prep. We have some researching and decisions to make.

He's always been underrated intellectually by his brothers and he was beaming when we looked last night.

lawyer informed me today a check is in the mail from insurance company for my totaled bike when a car smacked me. she let me know hospital bill reimbursement is next. i hadn't had any discussion with the lawyer since october. since i had no significant injuries my case wasn't lucrative at all. so i figured it was a lost cause. they seem to be scraping to finish all cases since no one is leaving their house...no one is getting injured

Nice. They have free lunch there. And he can play any sport he wants. My son loves it.

I might need to bend your ear.

My son is not that in to sports. One of my old baseball coaches coaches there. Do they really let anyone play? He is not good.

PM me your thoughts on social life, commute and homework load if you have free time and feel like it. My son has a 504 plan and I'm concerned about how that will blend with the school mission

Went to the grocery store today to get food for the week. Was planning on making a chicken picatta but they don't have any boneless chicken. So it is five o'clock, and I grab the bone in skin on leg quarters and figure I can debone the thigh pieces and I was going to make a roasted chicken/hot italian sausage sheet tray dinner later this week so the drumsticks will work there. Get home and I start butchering these things and saved the skin off the thigh to put on some of the potatoes for that other dish. Then I made a quick picatta with just the microwaved green bean/potato/sauce steamer thing on the side, but Mrs. Newper said that the chicken was the best thing I had made for dinner in a long time. She was practically licking the plate, so that felt pretty good.

I guess? Idk, I sent her an estimate from the bicycle shop to repair my bike and my bills related to the ER visit to get checked out.

I figured I'd get zero since there wasn't much money to be made off my case. I was riding a $90 bike I bought off craigslist and walked away with some road rash on my shoulder.

I got t-boned by a car. I luckily wore a bucket over my dome and felt OK but I'm not a doctor. I let the person at the hospital check if anything was broken or if I was concussed. They said nope so good enough for me.

Got a royal flush playing poker last night. First time ever. Had Q10 of hearts. Flopped AK and the jack came on the river.

I've had 4 aces a couple times and a few straight flushes.

Lost head to head. I turned a set and reraised all-in. My opponent rivered a straight.

I've only hit one royal flush in my life, and it was against a guy who also made a monster hand. Dude kept betting and re-raising me. It was the easiest hand of cards I've ever played in my life.

Best hand I ever played- I had KK. Flop comes out 10,10,K

He bet the flop, I raised, and he called.
He bet the turn, I raised, and he called.
He bet the river, I go all-in and he called.

Motherfucker had pocket 10s.

You see crazy shit all the time at the low blinds no limit tables in Vegas. I had a buddy sit down at a fresh table. All the players buy in for max of $200. First hand he gets Ace/King suited in middle position. The first three people go all in. He figures he is up against pairs with at least one being aces or kings. He folds.
The rest of the table proceeds to call. First hand!

He gets up and walks away.

This page has been excellent reading, thank you all.

I just got off the phone with my godmother in Memphis. 78 years old and telling me repeatedly that she loves me the same way I love her.

My heart is full and I needed it.

My grandmother didn't even know when our birthdays were. Not that she was old. She just didnt fuckin care. She just wanted to smoke and drink and smoke. She was a party girl. 76 going on 17 her whole life. She wanted to go to the best restaurants, drink the best vodka, and have fun every day. She didnt give many fucks at all about her family.

Never had a godmother and my moms parents passed before I was born. I never thought my Dad’s parents cared much for the grandkids until we got older.. they are gone now and my Aunt, who I barely know, sent me a box a few weeks ago filled with cards and notes and such that I had sent over the years.. i was an incredibly boring child but I teared up leafing through that stuff to finely find they did care after all these years.

My grandparents didn't know either. Theirs was a generation that only knew work. But I respected and understood that. Plus I knew they were glad to have me around.

I just got finished talking to my favorite two aunts. It's amazing how much you appreciate how easy it's getting to talk with them all. And how much better you feel as a result.

Tomorrow I'm going to call my great friend Seacrest. I'm too tired/talked out now.

Just reminded me of a picture of me and my grandfather from when I was a toddler. I doubt he ever showed any emotion, but he was there for anything important to me.

And wanted me to sit with him and watch Alabama football as he was painfully dying from cancer. And was still working to toughen me up. I'm not tough enough anymore.
