I don't see any mention of Covid-19 in that article...I'll take your word for it.

The seminal leader to the 1984 promised land has finally succumbed to the grim reaper.

88 years old. I liked him. Just hope it wasnt Chinese virus. Otherwise he coulda gone longer.

You will be missed Jim.

Traded Hall of Famer Lee Smith for Al Nipper and Calvin Shiraldi. Smith would get 298 more saves, 5 all-star game appearances.

This is the Frey trade you have the biggest problem with?

The Lee Smith deal was bad. Hated it, he was one of my favorite Cubs.

Also traded Rafael Palmeiro. Acquired washed up Goose Gossage. Signed bum free agents Danny Jackson, Dave Smith,. George Bell. Hired buddy, likeable idiot Don Zimmer as manager. Dallas Green later acquired Ryne Sandberg, not Frey.

he wasnt the greatest GM. But somehow he built a winner in '89.

Was a good manager.

And a nice guy. Always found his shaded glasses kinda funny.
