Even if this virus never existed, the league wouldn’t have lasted more than a couple years.

A couple of years would have been considered a success.

'Vince McMahon' may sound similar to 'business man', but he certainly isn't a good one.

A little legit bummed about this. Was a nice in person fan experience, especially for someone with young kids. Smaller stadiums, faster pace of play, and way less expensive.

I could have seen myself taking the Post kids to at least two home games a year. I probably won't even think about taking them to an NFL game for the better part of 7 years. We still have two great college options here in UH and Rice, but spring football was nice.

I told my 5 year old that the XFL stood for "Extra Football League"

Marc Trestman had a $777,000 contract with them! Stoops over a mill.

It was entertaining. Too bad another option is lost. Vince not to blame for this one.

Was the XFL better than the CFL in terms of player skill?

He should stay out of other endeavors, but he just cannot seem to help himself.

But he has been very successful in his main business. He took a regional territory and built it into a world wide company. He should stick to that as his focus.

I was super disappointed by this. I had tickets to take my son to see Tampa in St. Louis. I liked a lot of the things that they did; It sucks that we lose out on another entertainment option.

But they did not and went bankrupt themselves trying to defeat the WWF.

WCW was a dead subsidiary walking when Time Warner took control of Turner. WCW fit in Turner's renegade, not-so-corporate culture, but not so much Time Warner, which always had bigger plans for TBS and TNT. The accounting was always suspect -- by the time WCW started making money in 1997, the profits got shifted around to Turner Home Entertainment or, of all things, the Atlanta Thrashers.

WCW didn't go bankrupt. Time Warner just wanted nothing to do with the product, and wanted it GONE. Vince got everything for pennies on the dollar, and he didn't even need to absorb some of the awful deals handed out by WCW.

I think it was Kevin Nash who went into detail about how even though Nitro was doing good ratings and bringing in decent money even at the end, the executives thought it was more important to win awards for made-for-TV movies than have a well-rated, revenue-generating program that diminished the prestige of TNT.

I believe there was also some skulduggery involved where there was a former WWF person at Time Warner who either sabotaged Bischoff's venture-capital deal or worked a lot harder to facilitate the sale to Vince. Getting that whole video library for next to nothing really was a coup.

Yeah plus I do not care what anyone says Hall and Nash was sent by Vince to sabotage it. Once they got Eric in thier pocket WCW was gonna fail no matter what.
