I think there is a case to be made that "stay at home" orders by Governors are unconstitutional though the way most state Constitutions are I think they would stand up over a short enough time period.

So, until the courts rule on that, it is the Governors call.

To be honest, it's kind of shitty. My brother in law basically moved up to their vacation cottage for the time being because of this...he got furloughed 2 weeks ago, and had gotten a bunch of stuff to go up on weekends to work on their cabin...bought as a fixer upper. So he went up there to get shit worked on because of this draconian bullshit.

I'm not really defending it. I do think some Governors have gone overboard in the restrictions. However, it seems as if they do have that right. It may be time to change that.

You need a business license to operate a tanning salon. You do not need a license to enter a building a property you own.

You have Michigan saying that you can't buy seeds or to go a lake house, you have Florida saying that professional wrestling is an essential business, and you have Chicago closing public paths and banning liquor sales after 9pm.

Local politicians are making up their own rules as they go along, and the Ricks and Karens of the word support them wholeheartedly.

Look, the fact that law enforcement is unwilling to enforce these orders because even American police officers are more clued into what tyranny looks like than the Michigan governor is not some sign that what is happening here is right. Or that we should be encouraged.
