1996 Shaq is inferior to 1998-2003 Shaq. The latter was the best player in the league while the former was a young dude who didn't know how to use his powers.

Once Shaq hit his prime he dominated every decent and no man big on earth. He decimated the twin towers in San Antonio, dispatched every big Portland threw at him (Sabonis, a young Jermaine O'neal, Dale Davis, Rasheed Wallace, Chris Dudley), and didn't have trouble with the Ostertags and whoever else was left. Rodman was good but he's only 6'7. He got to him in 1996 but again Shaq was a different player later on.

 I love that you included Chris Dudley in that list.

NO doubt that Shaq was good and better than the 96 Shaq, but that was not enough to get past the Bulls and Jordan.

didn't shaq have a bad foot when he played the bulls or something? I seem to recall he was injured.

He slaughtered them from 1999-2003. The Spurs never made the finals when Shaq was at his peak.

Plus the Lakers third title was gifted to them when the league refused to let the Kings win game 6 of the WCF.

I have never seen a team get jobbed the way Sacramento was in that series. I think Donaghy was working that series too.

Both teams won 3 rings between 1999-2005 dummy. Duncan won two more after that, Shaq won only 1 more. Some decimation.

I put his peak from 1999-2000 to 2002-2003. Nice moving of the goalposts.

I put his peak from 1999-2000 to 2002-2003. Nice moving of the goalposts.

The man had more than a 3 year peak. No goalposts were moved.

Even if we use your original timeframe of 1999-2003 - it's still 3 rings to 2 and that's with you cherry picking the years to try to make it look as unbalanced as possible.

So yes, while Shaq may have dominated the immortal Chris Dudley, Tim Duncan was still his superior when both were at their best. Give Duncan Kobe and he would have had 10 rings.

 what are you talking about? Duncan rode Robinson's coattails to the finals during a shortened season in 1999. Okay wow. Asterisk.

Jackson arrived in LA for 1999-2000. For three straight years the Spurs did jackshit while the O'neal-led Lakers went to three finals, winning all three. The Spurs won it all in 2002-03 while a past his prime O'Neal (21ppg for the season, down from 27) destroyed the Spurs in 2003-04 before losing to the Pistons in the finals.

So from 1998-99 to 2003-04, which is inclusive of a past his prime O'neal, here's how it went:

Shaq: three rings, four finals
Duncan: one legit ring, one sort of ring, and two finals.

This doesn't make any sense.

Who gives a shit when Phil showed up? Also, the Lakers were a .4 second shot from Derek Fisher that shouldn't have even counted from going down 3-2 and losing to the Spurs in 03-04. Your memory is still as poor as always.

Ok, now let's not cherry pick:

Shaq: four rings, five Finals, 1 MVP
Duncan: 5 rings, 6 Finals, 2 MVPs.

Anyway you slice it Duncan comes out the better player. Especially if you start comparing the 2nd best player on each one's roster throughout their careers. Shaq was carried by Penny, Kobe, and Wade his entire career. Duncan had 2 borderline All Stars at best as his teammates.

Wasn’t there a really really bad call late in game 6 ? 7 ? on Doug Christie ?

Yeah. Can't remember which one but they kept calling fouls on Sacramento. Divac Fouled out. Other guys Fouled out. They completely jobbed Sacramento.

I have grown tired of hearing Parkins rag on the NBA games in the 90s...talking like they were slow and crappy compared to the greatness of todays game. Get that fucking shit out of here.

Collision, which appears to propel that #23 feller higher (note the lack of push off by #23. The left arm stays incredibly close to the body)
Adjust in mid air

Stretch
Place ball in target area with required emphasis
Jog downcourt to retrieve ball from opposing player

Simple game.
