The thing about rallies like this is that it isn't just members of one group that protest things. Some people are idiots and it happens on both sides. Then you have people who show up at these things who intentionally bring stupid signs and flags to these rallies in order to have themselves photographed when they are actually members of the opposition groups. This was proven when the Tea Party was being active. :( :(

Yea sorry, I dont buy the whole "a few idiots ruined it for anyone"...our rights are supposed to be stronger than that. The fact that people believe in lunatic religions or get on a podium and speak garbled nonsense (our two nominees for president!) are behaviours we have ultimately no problems tolerating because we understand the broader protection of those freedoms is so important.

It doesn't matter if you own a landscaping business or own a lake house. It does not even matter if you live in Michigan or not. This governor, and to be fair many have done very similar things but not to this extent, has gone tyrannical. Maybe her intentions are good, maybe she is prioritizing the public health, but let's call a spade and spade and this the tyranny that it so clearly is.

This is very true. What this disease has exposed is how there really are some tyranny minded public officials around in the states. The one thing that really pisses me off in all of this is the actions of some governors and mayors to prevent people to go to church yet allow liquor stores to remain open and other businesses. And don't think that the banning of people from going to church isn't because of how many liberals hate religion and religious organizations.

And we have idiots like Mayor Garcetti in LA starting his own SNITCH program that wants neighbors to snitch to police about anyone disobeying the stay at home or travel orders and get a REWARD from the city to do it. Some ditty in my own little town our here on a local web site asked yesterday how she can turn in her neighbor for violating the town ordinance about no more than two people walking on the street

3-1/2 and 5. Snack time is every 3-5 minutes. And my wife and I are both working full time in supply chain and manufacturing...we are slammed. We are trying very hard to not just plant them in front of the TV. My wife has a little more flexibility to work off hours, but I'm in sales, and I'm stuck at my computer for the most part between 7:30 and 4:30. We are trying really hard to keep them busy with activities, which has led to them having work stations next to us at the dining room table. The younger one spelled her first word on her own the other day..."fart". She's very proud of herself.
The kids are both very social, which is making it harder to get them to understand why they can't go play with their friends at daycare...because we aren't raising screen obsessed introverts. I've given in to a movie after lunch and nap time for the younger one today because I'm trying to get my shit done as my company has no authorized overtime available, and I don't want this stuff marinating all weekend. Plus, my wife has conference calls all afternoon. Also, my dog is an asshole.

Want 2 kids and a Bernese Mountain Dog?

The PS4 has been my saving grace when everyone else goes to bed. A couple of hours of MLB The Show or PBA bowling and a few beers...and some peace and quiet.

Told my daughter she was moving into the empty farmhouse we have and taking her brothers with her. Not sure who was more afraid I was being serious, she or the boys.

Is this some magical date? Why not today? Or is June 1st better? Are we all going to be safe? What happens if there is a second wave or spike? Or do we all go out may 1st and act like nothing happened?

The Magical Date is whatever arbitrary date that JB decides to unlock the shackles of IL citizens.

Do you want a real answer or are you just going to complain no matter what?

Incessant complaining is a staple skill of stay-at-home suburban women. They've literally built apps/website just to cater to their complaining.

We seem to have slowed down the spread of the virus enough to have reason to believe that the worst of it may be over and hospitals won't be overrun. It's still best to be cautious and make sure the trend continues so waiting a little bit is better than doing it right away and then being wrong.

Also, the general time from around March 20th to May 1st is consistent with what other places have seen in terms of getting things under control.

It is somewhat arbitrary in that we don't know for certain what the best balance is between making sure we have stopped the initial spike and not shutting things down for longer than needed.

It also does match up with what should be much improved testing.

May 1st is traditionally a day to take to the streets in protest as well as to burn criminals, virgins and Equalizers as sacrifices to the Gods so they'll smile on mankind by making fruitful the impending growing season.

You need a business license to operate a tanning salon. You do not need a license to enter a building a property you own.

You have Michigan saying that you can't buy seeds or to go a lake house, you have Florida saying that professional wrestling is an essential business, and you have Chicago closing public paths and banning liquor sales after 9pm.

Local politicians are making up their own rules as they go along, and the Ricks and Karens of the word support them wholeheartedly.

RIP United States of America. You had a good run.

The drastic measures are in place because we were unprepared. Given this is causing Great Depression 2.0, I’m 100% positive these measures won’t happen again.

Future presidents will listen to the nerds before this shit explodes.

Yes yes. It's the liberals walking around with the Stars and Bars. That's it.

Let's put this in context. There were a hundred stars and stripes and one stars and bars. ONE. I searched MANY clips and photos and it's the same flag. The one by the pickup with an assault rifle imprinted on it. And yes there were other dipshits there. But it wasn't a rally of nazis and racists. It was just people whose minds are blown that they couldn't buy things and couldn't have freedom of movement.

Non-zero chance that confederate flag is paid to fly that thing. Just like republicans will dye some staffers hair pink and have him hold a sign that says "Gays for Islam" or something.

I didn't say that the idiots waving that flag were liberals per se but it was shown and reported that there were Dem operatives at Tea Party rallies who put up hateful signs and waved Confederate flags to get photographed by the news outlets and turn the rally reporting into an attacks on the members of the Tea Party. One investigative reporter actually showed a network film crew arrive at a rally and stage pictures and a
eyewitness report highlighting sign carried by Dem operatives. The entire shot took like a half an hour to set up and film. Then the agents left along with the film crew.
